Launched in 2021 with the aim of becoming Europe’s leading insurtech specialist in cyber risk, Stoïk has raised over €50 million with some of the world’s most renowned investors and has co-created its insurance product with leading insurers and reinsurers.
Stoïk now has almost 5,000 customers and operates in 4 European countries with a team of more than 100 international employees.
We are looking for a data analyst to join our data team composed of one data engineer and one data scientist. The core of the job will be to create and maintain plots, figures, and reports describing the company’s activity.
Stoïk, as a growing startup, is constantly looking to adjust its commercial strategy as we launch new products and open new markets. As such, analytics are needed to both, assess the success of the current plan and prepare the next one; doing one-off market analysis or helping the management set targets;
Stoïk, as a company selling insurance coverage, must track its portfolio to adjust underwriting. Insurance is a peculiar product: the price charged is known upfront, but the insurer’s cost isn’t. Therefore, detailed reporting is required to follow premiums on one hand and claims on the other;
Stoïk, as an actor in the Cybersecurity space, collects data through infrastructure and vulnerability scanners. To prevent incidents and react swiftly, this information must be mobilized to, for instance, alert the relevant insured when a new critical flaw is published.
Discuss with other teams, and in particular our Operation, Finance, and Customer Success teams, which metrics they need to track. This implies understanding sales and insurance processes;
Write the necessary transformations to compute those metrics from our base data. Reliability is paramount. As those computations will run regularly, other members of the data team will help to tackle optimization issues;
Choose for each quantity the right figures and visuals. Data is only insightful when it is shown clearly and having plots that can be understood at a glance is key;
In order to achieve better reliability and maintainability, rewrite part of our existing Metabase analytics in SQL on our in-house platform.
This position is pivotal for our team. Your work will be at the forefront, used daily by other teams to guide decisions, position themselves against targets, and be shown during company meetings.
From a technical standpoint, we are looking for a data analyst with:
A mandatory strong knowledge of SQL. Experience with PostgreSQL in particular is a plus since it is how most of our data transformation is done;
Background in making figures and plots with tools like Metabase, Tableau, Power BI or equivalent. Beyond familiarity with specific software, we are looking for broader knowledge of how to present figures;
Being familiar with Python, or being interested in learning it, is also valued. Knowledge of Plotly, Seaborn, or Matplotlib as tools for quick data visualization or Pandas for data manipulation will be a plus.
A short introductory interview;
Technical test to do at home;
Second interview to discuss the results of the test;
Discussion with the founders.
