The People Operations Specialist will be the first point of contact and will be responsible for qualifying / investigating the requests and orienting to the right approval or contact loop. The People Operations Specialist is responsible for delivering all administrative & transactional tasks of the employee life-cycle from Hire to Retire, in respect with local regulations, and global guidelines.
The People Operations Specialist will also design, deploy and maintain the processes, policies, systems, projects and analysis that will support the company growth and ensure a top-notch and consistent employee experience across the globe.
YOUR MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The People Operations team aims at building a positive employee experience by putting the focus on employees, rather than on processes, and empowers them to excel. By designing and implementing successful and efficient programs, you play a central role in supporting employees at every stage of their journey. Your team acts as a pivotal shared services center, providing seamless support to people, propelling the teams towards sustainable and scalable growth.
Your mission will focus on payroll & personnel administration, legal compliance, and cross-functional projects.
1) Payroll & personnel administration
Ensure an excellent level of service for OpenClassrooms employees, with full compliance with local legal and regulatory frameworks.
We are looking for someone with strong payroll expertise – experience with ADP is a plus – as payroll is currently outsourced but requires meticulous reviews and control on our side.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage employee lifecycle events: onboarding, offboarding, employment contracts, addendums, benefits enrollments, etc.
Oversee payroll processing across countries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Partner closely with our external payroll provider to ensure high-quality service
Perform detailed controls and validations on payroll reports
Ensure payroll compliance with applicable laws and internal policies
Manage payroll-related queries and resolve any discrepancies
Collaborate with the Finance and Accounting teams
2) Legal Compliance
Ensure that HR practices comply with employment regulations in the countries we operate in, and support managers and teams with legal expertise.
Provide guidance on labor law topics and local administrative requirements
Support the drafting and updating of internal policies to meet legal standards
Handle employment-related compliance (data protection, audits, documentation)
Advise and support on pre-litigation or litigation processes if needed
3) Project management & process optimization
Contribute to the continuous improvement of People Operations processes and tools
Participate in cross-functional projects to improve efficiency and scalability
You will report directly to the Lead of People Operations.
The People Team currently includes 10 team members across People Operations, People Success, People experience, and Talent Acquisition. Proven experience in payroll and HR operations, ideally in an international and fast-paced environment
Solid knowledge of payroll regulations and labor law in France is required; experience with the US is a plus
Experience working with ADP and managing outsourced payroll processes
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for payroll control
Team player with excellent collaboration and communication skills
Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to work autonomously across departments
