➡️ Matawan’s ambition is to become a worldwide leader in SaaS solutions for Mobility. In a French Tech 120 / LBO environment, combining strong organic growth and build up through M&A, you will lead Legal, Risk, Compliance and Company Secretarial topics at company level, reporting directly into the CFO.
The role provides very high exposure to the CEO, the Executive Team and the Board of Directors. You will play an instrumental role in next funding round, future M&A and strategic partnerships at international level.
➕ In detail, you will act as a key business partner to the executive team, providing insightful and actionable legal perspective to support business decision making process. You will be accountable for navigating complex legal issues and balancing legal risks with ambitious business objectives. You will be representing the company during contract negotiations with external stakeholders (clients, partners, suppliers, etc.) and handling litigation whenever necessary.
Key responsibilities of the role consist in :
Providing guidance on legal issues and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, diligently drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements on behalf of the company (excluding labor law and employee relations that are managed by HR team)
When legal disputes arise, handling them with expertise and engaging outside counsel as needed
Managing corporate legal topics
Safeguarding company software IP and trademarks
Overseeing GDPR compliance
Staying up-to-date with changes in legislation to protect the organization’s interests
Regularly reviewing and updating policies, ensuring legal compliance is maintained
Implementing training programs to educate employees on legal compliance, fostering a culture of awareness within the organization
Engaging with industry peers and government bodies, allowing effective public policy advocacy
Supporting CFO on fundraising, debt financing and M&A related activities
Acting as a change agent across the organization, supporting transformation roadmap and growth plans initiated by Executive Committee

➡️ 8/10 years of experience in general counseling in a business environment, complementary experience in a law firm would be a plus.
⚙️ Hardskills: the most important will be contractual negotiation, excellent judgement and analytical mind, ability to anticipate risks or legal issues (to “see around the corner”).
🧠 Knowledge: overall broad legal (commercial law, public procurement law, litigations, GDPR, corporate law,…).
🤓 Softskills: in addition to the company skills base (proactivity, adaptability, teamspirit), we look fo someone with ability to solve problems and act as a change agent and with high degree of professional ethics and integrity.
🇬🇧 Fluent English is required (C1).
