Gorgias helps e-commerce companies deliver excellent customer service at scale. We integrate email, live chat, voice, Facebook, Instagram, and SMS with Shopify, BigCommerce, and Magento.

Our product creates a unified customer profile by combining emails, live-chat, and social-media messages with e-commerce data such as purchase and delivery info. Combining all this data in a single application makes customer service more efficient and just better. Another fortunate side-effect is that some requests are completely automated using machine learning. 💬 + 📦 = ❤️

We've been around since 2015, and we're serving over 6000+ e-commerce businesses, including Steve Madden, Timbuk2, Decathlon, and Sports Illustrated.

Our growth exceeded 200% in 2020, so we raised $25 million Series B in December 2020 to double our global team and to accelerate our progress towards our mission to transform support from painful to exceptional for merchants. 🥳

This position is either fully remote (European timezones) or onsite at our Paris office. We have a relocation package in place if needed.

What you will do

  • You'll spread the gospel of good data practices in the entire company. We like to empower other teams by building build tools and coaching them to exploit the power of data on their own rather than doing it for them.
  • As a Data Engineer you'll work on managing our event queues (GCP PubSub), event consumers (using the Python3 version of Apache Beam) and our data warehouse (BigQuery), the goal is to have a robust, scalable and efficient event pipeline that can serve our Product, Machine-Learning and Operations data needs.

    • Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • You experienced with message queues such as RabbitMQ.
  • You know your way around an event streaming system such as Kafka.
  • You worked on cloud event pipeline tech (Ex: AWS Kinesis, GCP Dataflow).
  • We're provisioning everything with Terraform - no need to know it before joining, but we provision everything using it.
  • Non-cloud work around data pipelines is great too, skills are transferable, the concepts are similar, but some real-world experience around processing high traffic data streams is mandatory.

  • Meet Mihaela, our Tech Recruiter, for an introductory call in which you get to know more about Gorgias and the position and we get to learn more about you.
  • Coding challenge using the platform HackerRank. It is timed for 90 minutes and has five questions in total: two multiple choice questions, one basic coding question, one intermediate coding question and one advanced sql question.
  • Meet your team members, Tudor and Mohamed during a technical interview. Great time to know each other and ask questions about what to expect when working in the data team.
  • Meet Alex, CTO and co-founder at Gorgias. This is a good time to ask difficult questions and see if we are a good match for you.
