We are looking for a Fraud Analyst to take on one of WeWard’s most critical challenges: protecting a fast-growing app (25M+ users worldwide) from fraud, while keeping the experience fair and rewarding for millions of walkers.
Reporting directly to Tanguy (co-founder), you will play a central role inside the Data team and work closely with all departments (Tech, Product, Growth, Customer Support, Finance). You’ll be the bridge between field investigation, user behavior analysis, and technical solutions.
Your mission will be to detect, investigate, and outsmart fraudsters—from spotting suspicious patterns to interviewing users, reproducing fraud schemes, and transforming insights into concrete fixes with the Tech team.
This role is key to WeWard’s success: you will directly shape how we safeguard our economy, protect revenues, and keep trust at the heart of our product.
By joining WeWard, you’ll step into a position with high visibility, strong ownership, and immediate impact on both our business and our community.
1. Fraud Investigation & User Insights
Investigate complex fraud cases by analyzing suspicious user behaviors.
Run interviews with users (including identified fraudsters) to uncover tricks, motivations, and tools.
Reproduce fraud schemes to validate technical vulnerabilities and close loopholes.
Document insights and share clear recommendations with Tech & Product teams.
2. Operational Fraud Management
Drive corrective actions: open tickets, prioritize, and follow fixes with developers.
Collaborate with Customer Support to review ambiguous cases.
Monitor high-risk user profiles and ensure long-term fraud prevention.
Balance automation vs. human validation to optimize detection and efficiency.
3. Financial & Partner Audit
Cross-check revenues from partners (offerwalls, surveys, IAPs, ad networks) to ensure payments match expected volumes.
Investigate anomalies in reported revenues (e.g. inflated clicks, fake conversions, missing payouts).
Detect and flag fraud attempts on the partner side (networks or advertisers).
Build dashboards and monitoring tools to track discrepancies between WeWard’s internal data and partner financial reports.
Work with Finance & Ops to secure accurate and sustainable revenue streams.
4. Continuous Improvement & Strategy
Collaborate across departments (Data, Tech, Growth, Finance, Support) to improve fraud detection systems.
Design new tools: scoring models, risk dashboards, automated alerts, and internal guides.
Anticipate new fraud tactics and adapt processes proactively.
Track the performance of anti-fraud actions (detection rate, reduced fraud costs, improved partner reliability).
Education: Master’s degree (Engineering, Statistics/Data, MIAGE, or equivalent).
Experience: 2–4 years as a Data Analyst, Risk Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role in a B2C/app/fintech environment, ideally with some exposure to fraud or user investigation.
Skills:
Strong in SQL and Excel (must-have).
Python is a big plus.
Experience with analytics tools (Amplitude or equivalent).
Mindset:
Comfortable with both quantitative analysis and direct user interaction (you don’t mind picking up the phone or talking with users on Discord, Reddit, or Telegram).
Curious and persistent: you don’t stop at the first “fake” explanation.
Able to form hypotheses and test them quickly in the field.
Great at making things simple: you can explain insights without unnecessary jargon.
Impact-driven, pragmatic, and motivated by the thrill of finding loopholes.
Languages: Fluent in French, good command of English.
