Seeking a hands-on and innovative Head Of Technology to join our franchiser team. You’ll work directly with the CEO and other executives to steer the company’s future, owning the technology for the We Invest group. Your primary role will be to lead our hybrid engineering and product teams, ensuring the proper development and maintenance of our key business applications and make sure to take into account the scalability need of a franchisor who wants to be European.

• Participate as a key member of the Steerco, reporting directly to the CEO and other executives in defining and implementing the company’s future.

• Together with the CEO, you define the Franchisor’s technology vision & strategy. You fully own the implementation of the technology strategy on a day-to-day basis.

• Provide leadership and direction for our Software Engineers, Product Manager(s) and UX/UI Designer(s).

• Coordinate a broad range of technical business initiatives to improve our products, ensuring results are comprehensive, efficient, scalable and most importantly, outcome driven. You apply good product development lifecycle principles to conduct those initiatives (discovery, define, develop, deliver).

• Review, improve and implement our Agile workflow, optimising team collaboration and project delivery.

• Hands-on management of our in-house website and web app, maintaining high performance and guiding further development.

• Oversee the backend system, ensuring optimal performance and implementation of necessary upgrades.

• Maintain and optimize the automation of marketing operations through our legacy system integrated with a Shopify e-commerce platform.

• Proven track record as a head of technology, head of engineering, head of product or a similar leadership role.

• Experience in building a scalable business (or in a franchise system).

• Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, CQRS, Event-driven architecture. This is must have as we expect you to be hands-on and coach our engineering team.

• Comfortable leading hybrid and Agile teams.

• Solid grasp (and preferably demonstrated experience) of product management principles and methodologies.

• Previous experience in the real estate industry is desirable.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities.

• Capacity to switch easily between a very hands-on approach (you don’t hesitate to get your hands dirty) and a strategic thinking approach.

• Outstanding communication and people management skills.

• You speak and write English fluently, and you can express yourself in either French or Dutch.

  Preferred skills

  • Familiarity with the rest of our technology stacks, NestJS, Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, GraphQL, Monorepo with Turborepo and AWS EKS, would be a plus.

  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid workforce.

  • Experience with project management and team collaboration tools like Linear, Discord, GitHub, Slack and FigJam.
