Software Engineers at Qonto craft polished user experiences, highly scalable API’s and robust banking services, all to help build the finance solution all businesses love.

The backend engineering team at Qonto currently has over 60 highly skilled engineers, from all over the world, working closely in cross-functional teams to shape our banking solutions. They participate in the discussions on the direction of our banking product, manage how we will manage our ever growing user base needs and deliver high quality products in a fast paced environment.

👩‍💻🧑‍💻As a Head of Backend at Qonto, you will

• Bring energy and vision to the backend team
Coach Backend Leads and Engineers on their management practice and technical expertise
Ensure on-time delivery of features and improvements with a high level of quality
Foster collaboration with partner teams such as Product, Data and Frontend
Structure a technical vision and scaling initiatives to increase the robustness, maintainability, and performance of our backend ecosystem

Our primary languages or frameworks are Golang and Ruby on Rails on the backend, EmberJS on the frontend, and Kotlin and Swift for our Mobile applications. Our platform runs on a Kubernetes cluster hosted on AWS, with PostgreSQL as our database of choice, using Kafka for our event-driven architecture and ELK for logging and auditing, among many other tools, services and applications.

🧠What you could work on

As part of our Engineering department, you will oversee several teams of backend engineers. Each of these teams participates in a cross-functional team, each team thah handles part of our product. A few examples of these teams are:

💳Cards: the team responsible for all things cards. On the backend this includes but is not limited to: all things related to card shipment, paying with cards, billing for cards, and card security.

🏦Ledger: the team working on our Core Banking System, which allows us to store transactions in an accurate, scalable and auditable way.

✈️Onboarding: the team guiding users through a delightful and frictionless sign-up experience.

🏦Expense Management: the team building seamless workflows for employees to make payments and for finance teams to manage expenses.


Profil recherché

Experience: You have 6+ years of experience as a software engineer and successful experience as a manager
Leadership: You are a natural leader, and have emerged as such in your career
Management: You have managed big teams in a structured tech company and a fast-paced environment
Tech Skills: You can drive complex tech discussions and orient the team’s roadmap in a modern environment
Languages: You are fluent in English. French is a plus.


Déroulement des entretiens

💪 What to expect from our hiring process:

  • A 60 min interview with one of our Talent Acquisition Managers to better understand your career plan and answer any of your questions
  • A 60 min interview with Aymeric (our CTO) to create a strong alignment on what he’ll expect from you, and tell you more about his way to operate
  • An exercise to evaluate your technical and management skills, and a debrief of this test with Aymeric
  • Interviews with future team members and colleagues to help you project yourself in the company
  • A final interview with Steve, our co-founder

We will send you an interview guide so you can best prepare yourself.
On average our process lasts 20 working days and offers usually follow within 48 hours 🤞
