About the role: 

Our community of freelancers and self-employed is the heart of Malt. Today, the Malt community counts 15,000 freelancers in Germany and the community team works every day to be the voice and ear of our freelancer community, finding the best deals for them and continuing to improve our product. 

As a Community Builder & Developer, you will work with our local marketing team in Germany as well as with the community team at headquarters. Together with the local and global teams you will develop concepts and growth strategies to bring together and grow the freelancer community online. Your job is to find the best talent, inspire them to join our Malt community and ultimately turn them into advocates for Malt's vision. 

As Community Builder, your mission will be

  • Develop strategies to grow the Malt Freelancer Community through scalable tactics, e.g. partnerships, content, events, referrals, etc.
  • Develop strategies to increase engagement of the Malt Freelancer community, e.g. through online communities, events, etc.
  • Build and maintain online communities (e.g., on Facebook, LinkedIn, Meetup, etc.) with German freelancers and self-employed professionals
  • Actively promote Malt’s community amongst local partners (alumni networks, co-working spaces, tech communities, meetups and influencers)
  • Identify and build relationships with relevant influencers from the tech and freelance community
  • Organize online and offline events with relevant partners with the goal of reaching new audiences and growing the Malt community
  • Identify relevant channels to reach the freelancer target group
  • Co-development of communication campaigns for events
  • Increase Malt's brand awareness through direct marketing and word of mouth
  • Preferred experience

  • 2+ years of professional experience in a community or communications environment or other similar role
  • Strong affinity for social media
  • Experience building relationships with target audience on and offline
  • Outgoing and enjoy interacting with people
  • You are 100% self-starter, work quickly into topics and proactively address issues
  • Desire for a start-up environment and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • You are extremely organized and can successfully manage several projects at the same time
  • Willingness and desire to travel within Germany and occasionally to Paris
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Any experience in online marketplaces / tech industry is a plus

  • In a second step you will meet with Camille, Head of Freelancing Community
  • Business case with Dirk, General Manager DACH
  • Final meeting with Vincent, CEO and Co-founder
