Homaio is entering a new phase of scale. Legal and regulatory complexity is growing — more products, more countries, more clients, more counterparties. We need someone who can own that complexity and anticipate its consequences.
As Head of Legal & Compliance, your core mission is to internalize what we have outsourced and build a legal function that is robust, proactive, and lean. You will lead all legal topics at Homaio while leveraging specialized external firms where required. You own the roadmap, the relationships, and the outcomes.
This is a senior, generalist in-house role for a lawyer with 3–5 years of experience at a leading law firm, with deep exposure to financial regulation and a strong drive to move in-house at a category-defining fintech.
You will be tasked with:
Financial Regulation & Compliance (core)
Own Homaio’s regulatory posture vis-à-vis the AMF, the EU regulatory framework (MiFID II, EU ETS, DORA…), and any new licensing or authorization requirements as we launch new products.
Monitor regulatory developments affecting our business and translate them into operational requirements proactively
Continuously adapt Homaio’s terms of service as the product develops and new capacity is brought online
Build and maintain our compliance framework: policies, procedures, controls, and documentation.
Corporate & Contracts
Draft, review, and negotiate all commercial contracts: partner agreements, client-facing terms, supplier contracts, NDAs, employment agreements.
Own corporate housekeeping: cap table hygiene, board resolutions, shareholder agreements, and investor reporting obligations.
Support fundraising processes from a legal standpoint (data room, term sheets, closing docs) in coordination with counsel.
Intellectual Property & Data
Protect Homaio’s IP: trademarks, brand assets, proprietary methodologies, and technology.
Own GDPR compliance: data processing agreements, data governance policies, and data subject rights management.
Fiscal & Risk
Identify and manage fiscal risks in coordination with our accountants and external tax advisors.
Continuously monitor our trade execution engine for fiscal exposure
Build a structured approach to legal risk: map it, monitor it, and escalate it appropriately.
Manage relationships with our panel of specialized external firms and ensure we get maximum value from those mandates.
As an early team member and first in-house lawyer, you will also play a cultural role: building a legal mindset across the team, advising the founding team on strategic decisions, and being a voice of rigor without becoming a bottleneck.
You will be a good fit if:
You have 5+ years of experience at a leading law firm, ideally in financial regulation, capital markets, litigation, or fintech.
You are ready to move in-house for the first time and trade specialization for ownership. You want to be the decision-maker, not just the advisor. You are motivated by responsibility, not just expertise.
You have a strong grasp of French and European financial regulation - AMF, ACPR, ESMA, MiFID II, GDPR, DORA, are not abstract acronyms to you. Experience with investment firms, payment institutions, or regulated asset managers is highly valued.
You combine legal precision with business pragmatism. You understand that the job is not to say no, but to find a path forward. You can calibrate legal risk against commercial reality and communicate clearly to non-lawyers.
You are autonomous, organized, and accountable. You can manage multiple topics simultaneously across legal specialties - regulatory, contractual, fiscal, IP - without dropping the ball. You own your work completely, including your errors.
You are fluent in French and English, both legally and commercially. Our regulatory environment is French, our ambition is European, and our investors are international.
You bring a lot of energy and seriousness of purpose. Legal is not a support function here, it is a competitive advantage. We design financial products from scratch: you are core business.
