The role

The Customs Officer will have overall responsibility for setting up, implementing and continuously developing customs programs and procedures at Helsing and will report to the Director Export Control & Customs. You will represent vis-à-vis authorities in all customs matters. This role will ensure Helsing can deliver on it’s goal of providing precision mass and autonomous capabilities to democracies so that they can deter and protect.

The day-to-day

• Planning and initiating internal and external audits on the effectiveness of the customs program      

• Designing and ensuring a customs training program including development, planning, maintenance and implementation of customs self-assessments thus ensuring compliance with the Helsing customs compliance guidelines

• In-house coordination and systematization of all customs law matters for Helsing including group guidelines for customs and for operational customs audits in accordance with the European Customs Code and its implementing regulations and German customs law regulations

• Coordination, monitoring and optimization of all customs procedures, in particular in cooperation with the company's stakeholders

• Training of all relevant employees in the context of customs import/export for customs (no export control function)

• Interface to export control in case of legal questions

You should apply if you

• Have implemented or supported operational customs clearance, i.e. the implementation of shipments, exports in conjunction with a customs clerk

• Have monitored and supported of shipping and transport documents, customs declarations incl. certificates of origin and other customs-related documents

• Controlling and management of brokers and freight forwarders incl. spot checks

• Responsible for operational customs clearance, i.e. the execution of shipments, exports

• Are fluent in English and German
