Job summary

Define the direction and guidelines for planning and organizing academic activities of the faculty, supervise course progress and monitor performance in terms of content effectiveness, academic action and student satisfaction (student voice and NPS) aligned with the Manchester Metropolitan University, Regent University London, RNCP and Government's returns requirements; direct and co-ordinate activities related to innovation of the academic offer and teaching methodology; contribute to tutor training; manage relationships with academic Institutions.

Key purpose of the role

Teaching

Plan teaching activities and prepare lectures, and ensure briefs and industry briefs are integrated as appropriate. Plan activities relevant to the topic (engaging guest speakers, external visits authorisation, etc.) and liaise with tutors and unit leaders for delivery. Continuously look for material and input for the students and be very responsive to individual students' needs and their practice.

Programme Management and promotion

Programme Leaders are responsible for the whole programme management and promotion. This includes playing an active role in tutor recruitment and unit handbook preparation prior the start of the academic year, to manage assessments and coordinate tutors' marking allocation, overseeing assessment moderation, preparing for external examiners visits. Participation to different committees and meetings is also requested as part of the academic contribution to the School's activities. As part of the programme management, the Programme Leaders collaborate very closely with the Quality Assurance department in handling students' informal complaints and preparation of programme handbooks. Programme Leaders collaborate closely with Head Quarters and with other Istituto Marangoni Schools to participate in the modification and/or validation of Istituto Marangoni's programmes through consultation with colleagues from other schools.

Our Admission team relies on Programme Leaders' expertise in their sector to grant applicants admission or not to Istituto Marangoni courses and collaborate with them in different promotional activities such as open days, recruitment events and school visits, with the aim to engage Prospective students candidates. It is also essential for Programme Leader to build and maintain relationships with local agents to be updated about events and promotion opportunities.

Research and scholarship

Actively advancing knowledge in the sector of expertise through participation to conferences, exhibitions, the development of research, projects and teams and publications. Ensuring professional currency and development is maintained at all times.

Pastoral support and student support

Deliver individual and group tutorials and meetings with students and provide extra support for students experiencing difficulties. Actively involved and engaged in students' wellbeing by escalating major safeguarding issues and referring them to Student Services, counselling or coaching when needed.

People Leadership and Management

Manage own resources, their professional growth and skills development; plan and organize jobs and activities and assign new projects; actively participate in the selection process; guarantee respect of policy, code of ethics and company procedures; actively support initiatives in Succession Planning, Change Management and innovation; ensure that all academic documentation is produced correctly and constantly updated.

Autonomy level as of following scale:

  • Assure (implement and improve processes/activities, responsible for results)

  • Supervise (define and monitor processes/activities, coordinating and supervising resources)

  • Lead (guarantee effectiveness and eventual redesigning of processes/activities, planning and monitoring results)
