Le poste

Descriptif du poste

Soil is the fuel of our discovery engine. Everything starts with soil samples containing microbial strains that may encode the next generation of drugs or bioactive products.

We are looking for an Industrial Operations Intern to support and progressively structure the sourcing of soil samples across France, with future expansion to other European territories.

In close collaboration with the Industrial Operations, Bioinformatics, and Lab teams, you will contribute to:

  • scaling field sourcing operations,

  • improving traceability of samples and strains throughout the discovery pipeline,

  • and supporting the development of internal operational tools.

You will work alongside experienced team members and gradually take ownership of clearly defined operational scopes, with a strong hands-on component.

Key Responsibilities

Sourcing & Field Operations

  • Support and help scale the soil sourcing program (planning, tracking, follow-up).

  • Help recruit, onboard, and coordinate a network of freelance samplers.

  • Support administrative steps and permit submissions when sourcing outside France is required.

  • Help identify and engage relevant sourcing partners (academia, private collections, local networks).

Data, Traceability & Analysis

  • Contribute to traceability and provenance tracking to link strains and molecules back to origin samples.

  • Analyze sourcing data to identify high-value soils and inform future sourcing strategies.

Internal Tools & Workflows

  • Contribute to no-/low-code tools supporting sourcing workflows and sampler coordination.

  • Support improvements of internal operational tools (feature definition, testing, documentation).

  • Ensure structured data entry and clear operational documentation.

Profil recherché

Who we are looking for

This is a final-year internship (6 months) for a profile who enjoys operating at the intersection of operations, data and biology in a high-paced biotech environment.

There is no single “right” academic path for this role. We are looking for someone comfortable navigating across disciplines and learning fast.

You could be:

  • a scientist curious about industrial and operational challenges,

  • an engineer interested in biology-driven systems,

  • an operations- or data-oriented profile motivated by hands-on field execution,

  • or any hybrid profile excited by scaling lab-related operations.

Needs to Have

  • Final-year student (M2 or engineering degree) completing a 6-month full-time internship in operations, supply chain, computer science, or similar. Bonus : basic biology knowledge, or experience in biotech-related fields

  • Strong ability to structure complex, concrete problems and turn them into actionable operational solutions.

  • Comfortable working closely with wet-lab and bioinformatics teams.

  • Strong analytical mindset and interest in tracking, data, and operational systems.

  • Clear written and oral communication skills; professional English required.

  • Self-driven and autonomous, able to manage defined scopes independently.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to laboratory workflows, biotech operations, or field sampling.

  • Experience with spreadsheets, databases, or no-/low-code tools.

  • Familiarity with coding concepts (Python / SQL / scripting) or strong willingness to learn.

  • Interest in the intersection of biology, operations, and technology.

Why Join Us?

This internship is a chance to work on a unique field-to-lab discovery engine, where your work directly fuels the pipeline. You’ll gain hands-on experience in a biotech startup, learn how sourcing and traceability support discovery at scale, and contribute to real tools we use internally every day. You’ll work closely with Industrial Operations, Bioinformatics, and lab teams, with strong exposure to decision-making and fast learning opportunities.
