Position Overview

Epic is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Programs team as Senior Programs Manager and contribute to our programmatic and grantmaking efforts at both strategic and operational levels. 

Aligned with our strategic objectives, the Senior Programs Manager will implement Epic’s programmatic strategy, from managing a subset of Epic’s portfolio of nonprofits to leading new selections and strategic projects to consolidate our impact towards our grantee partners and in the philanthropic ecosystem. 

The Senior Programs Manager will work under the supervision of the Programs Director and will be part of a growing team with colleagues in Paris, London and Brussels.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit leadership, program management, grantmaking, and a deep passion for social impact and strategic philanthropy.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute and execute Programs’ strategy with a high degree of professionalism, autonomy and commitment, in alignment with Epic’s mission, value, and strategic goals and centered around a global portfolio of 20-25 nonprofits in the areas of Children & Youth and Climate. 

  • Conduct, with the Programs team, the annual selection processes of robust organizations for the portfolio through a comprehensive due diligence on impact, operations and governance. This includes reviewing models, processes, and documents, evaluating applications and supporting documents, conducting interviews with candidate organizations, and performing selection visits.

  • Manage a subset of Epic’s portfolio nonprofits to analyze overall impact, performance, growth and evolution of grantee partners. This includes leading ongoing monitoring (quarterly calls and annual site visits), supporting grantmaking cycles, writing annual reports and providing ad-hoc technical support as relevant and desired. 

  • Manage, develop, and nurture relationships with Epic’s grantees and key partners in the nonprofit sector, staying abreast of emerging best practices and trends relevant to our portfolio.

  • Explore, lead  and contribute to Epic’s research (reports, trends analysis…) and strategic projects for continual improvement of Programs’ practices  such as  impact evaluation, capacity-building, innovative grantmaking and funding.

  • Collaborate with other Epic teams to develop internal and external knowledge management and promote the work of our grantee partners, contributing to Development and Engagement strategies for donor acquisition and retention.

  • Any other tasks that may be assigned as part of the role.


Profil recherché

Required  skills:

  • 7+  years experience in grantmaking and / or non-profit program management, with expertise in the areas of children and youth (education, fight against poverty and human development, mental health…) and/or environmental protection 

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit management, design, and impact analysis and the ability to assess a nonprofit across impact, operations and governance. 

  • Comfort analyzing data and research, specifically those related to programmatic monitoring and social impact evaluation 

  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences in both French and English; strong analytical and evaluative skills 

  • Understanding of non-profit communities and philanthropic ecosystems working on relevant issues

  • Empathetic, collaborative, team player with the ability to work across cultures and languages.

  • Ability to work in a lean and entrepreneurial organization with a high degree of self management; strong project management skills and ability to manage a high-volume workload at a fast pace

  • Comfortable using technology and learning new software (experience with Salesforce a plus)

  • This is a full time position  based in Paris or London.

  • Benefits include 5 weeks paid holidays plus the week between Christmas and New Years, and other benefits depending on office location.

  • 2-day per week remote work arrangements permitted
