AFP is hiring a first-language Slovak journalist with strong digital investigation skills to tackle mis/disinformation being shared online in Slovakia. 

We require an experienced journalist who can track and navigate disinformation across various social media platforms. 

They will produce watertight investigations and articles that meet the high editorial standards of AFP, one of the world’s leading news agencies. The journalist must also be prepared to support the news team when required.

The successful candidate will join our global digital investigation team of around 150 journalists. In an ever-changing media environment, the nature of the job could evolve in line with coverage demands. 

The contract is initially short-term but potentially renewable.


Profil recherché

The successful candidate will have:

  • native-level Slovak but also good English, which is our working language. Proficient written Czech would be a strong advantage;

  • an appreciation of the value of combatting disinformation that is shared online;

  • expertise in digital verification techniques and tools, as well as a keen interest in developments in online media such as AI;

  • the discipline and motivation to work independently to produce a regular turnover of stories at a steady pace;

  • a methodical and detailed approach to writing debunks that present evidence clearly and concisely.
