Job description

Are you eager to be part of a tech & product transformation journey within a company that champions values of fairness and transparency in the music industry, a sector that truly needs it?

Believe is a Tech Powered Music Company, where technology is a crucial competitive advantage. You’ll be joining our Tech team of over 200 passionate Believers, organized in multidisciplinary squads.

Come help us take on our next challenges:

  • Contribute to our product & tech transformation

  • Develop products for our artists, labels, and internal teams

  • Take part in the revamp of our tech stack and transition toward a highly distributed architecture

  • Lead the migration from our Datacenter/AWS to Google Cloud Platform

As Head of Engineering, you lead a tribe composed of several teams, including Engineering Managers and Software Engineers.

You contribute to shaping both the product and technical roadmap covering technical debt management, system reliability, and more and you’re able to challenge both technical and product-related aspects with equal relevance.

You are responsible for the successful execution of this roadmap, the engagement and growth of the teams, and the continuous improvement of ways of working across the tribe.

You thrive in a multidisciplinary environment, demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills. You know how to adapt your posture, switching between manager, servant leader, facilitator, and mentor depending on the context.

With a solid technical background and strong engineering culture, you’re able to craft a tech vision at the tribe level that aligns with Believe’s broader technology strategy.

Finally, you play an active role within the Product Engineering leadership team, contributing to initiatives aimed at raising the overall level of software engineering maturity at Believe.

Responsibilities

Team Support

  • Ensure alignment of roadmaps across the tribe’s teams and with enabling teams (SRE, Architecture, Data, Security, etc.), and monitor their progress

  • Guarantee the quality and reliability of the products within your scope (testing, observability, performance, resilience, security, etc.)

  • Oversee and promote continuous improvement processes within the teams

  • Celebrate and share team successes and learnings

Management & Collaboration

  • Define and refine team composition (“casting”)

  • Ensure effective hiring and development of Believers (feedback, OKRs, coaching, etc.)

  • Drive transformation initiatives at all levels of the organization (team, tribe, and beyond)

  • Inspire and give purpose to teams in their day-to-day work

  • Act as a reliable communication channel between teams and leadership

  • Foster high-quality collaboration and positive interactions across individuals

  • Promote autonomy and accountability within the teams

  • Actively contribute to initiatives led by the Product Engineering leadership

Engineering

  • Ensure adherence to global Tech standards and practices, and validate the relevance of technical decisions with respect to the broader architecture

  • Make sure these decisions are taken collaboratively with other tech teams (Architecture, SRE, QA, etc.)

  • Guide teams on their journey toward Continuous Delivery and the “Build it, Run it, Bury it” philosophy
