The Special Projects Team
Special Projects is a new cross-functional team dedicated to innovation, specific technological developments, advanced technical support for our academic customers, and the exploration of new clinical, technological, and commercial synergies. In particular, its goal is to enhance Wandercraft’s medical impact beyond the exoskeleton itself.
The team works on reusable cross-project developments, project-specific initiatives with high clinical or product impact, technology scouting and acquisition, as well as the pursuit of external funding opportunities.
Job Description:
Reporting directly to the company’s Hardware CTO and as the Manager of this team, your role will be to (non-exhaustive list):
Lead the strategy and roadmap for Special Projects, in alignment with the company’s strategic priorities.
Oversee and coordinate projects, including:
Technical support for our academic customers (onboarding, training, technical follow-up),
Cross-project developments aimed at delivering robust turnkey solutions adaptable to specific developments,
Project-specific developments arising from clinical, commercial, or technical opportunities (e.g., spinal cord stimulation, BCI integration, gamification, physiological sensors, etc.).
Conduct technology scouting: assess new solutions, technologies, or potential partners, including in the context of acquisition opportunities,
Manage external relationships with clinical, academic, and industrial partners,
Seek and secure public or private funding for innovative projects,
Lead and grow the team: define roles, recruit, support, and develop team members’ skills,
Ensure quality and technical documentation (training materials, clinical protocols, technical and regulatory documentation).
Diploma: Engineering degree in robotics / mechatronics or any related field
Experience: Minimum 5 years
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge in the development of technological proof-of-concepts (POCs): electronics, mechanics, embedded software, Python, mobile prototyping (Flutter/React Native, Firebase, FastAPI),
Understanding of communication protocols (I²C, SPI, etc.) and mechanical design (SolidWorks, 3D printing),
Basic knowledge of machine learning applied to data analysis and processing,
Ability to assemble, test, and validate complex prototypes,
Understanding of clinical evaluation and ability to contribute to protocol definition.
Business and Strategic Skills
Ability to assess the product–market fit of a technology,
Proficiency in competitive and financial analysis (ROI, TCO, hidden costs),
Strategic vision and ability to align projects with the company’s overall roadmap.
Soft Skills
Minimum C1 level in English,
Excellent pedagogical skills, with clear communication adapted to different audiences,
Collaborative leadership and ability to rally stakeholders around cross-functional projects,
High level of autonomy and strong initiative.
