Reporting to the UK CEO with a dotted line to the VP Underwriting, you will join the Wakam UK leadership team to help us profitably grow our business across the UK.

Responsibilities:

• You will direct the underwriting strategy, operations and policy development across product lines, ensuring profitability, growth and efficiencies to meet the agreed Wakam Group organisational objectives.As a regulated role, you will be a key function holder (SMF23).

  Responsibilities will include:
  

  • Overseeing the UK UW function. Defining organisational goals, strategies, and business plan in conjunction with the Group Underwriting function.
  • Overseeing UK Underwritingcommittees or othercommittees as required
  • Providing leadership, support and guidance on the management of all aspects of underwriting and related activities
  • Providing direction and tools needed to deliver objectives and ensure compliance with UK and Group goals and standards, policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the underwriting decisions in respect of material insurance risks
  • Responsible for the underwriting decisions in respect of material insurance risks
  • Setting and monitoring the underwriting budget for each underwriting area, in partnership with the Heads of Underwriting for each product line
  • Accountable for the underwriting result for the UK business
  • Ensuring activities meet and are compliant with regulatory all requirements and that robust governance is in place
  • Assisting in the development of the company's underwriting policies

✯ Requirements:

• Experienced Leader with approximately 10 years' relevant experience leading an Underwriting function in the UK
• Experience overseeing multiple insurance product lines, especially Motor, Home and SME and Pet
• Passionate about continuous innovation
• An exceptional communicator, collaborator, and influencer. Skilled at engaging with and building trusted relationships with leaders and other key stakeholders
• Excellent people management skills - someone who can develop and sustain a high performing team
• Comfortable with ambiguity and being agile. Takes calculated risks and anticipates potential issues
• French language skills are a nice to have
