Security Engineering manager will be responsible for the Application, Infrastructure and Detection & Response Security domains. Security Engineering manager will oversee key initiatives with respect to these security domains and lead a team of talented Security Engineers to secure Turo’s applications, services, infrastructure and ultimately customer data.

Oversee Security Engineering Initiatives: Lead and manage security projects across application, infrastructure, and detection and response domains. Ensure successful delivery of security initiatives in alignment with organizational goals.
Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor a team of Security Engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Support career development and continuous learning opportunities for team members.
Risk Management and Mitigation: Identify, assess, and mitigate security risks to protect Turo’s assets and customer data. Develop and implement security policies, standards, and best practices.
Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with other engineering(CloudServices & Platform), Product Engineering, and IT teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle and ensure compliance with security requirements.
Incident Response and Management: Oversee the detection and response to security incidents. Lead investigations and implement measures to prevent future incidents.

Education and Experience:
Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, CyberSecurity, Information Assurance or equivalent
At least 6+ years of experience in security domains such as Application Security, Product Security, Infrastructure Security, Cloud Security, Security Engineering, etc
0-2 years of prior management experience or equivalent (demonstrated work leading teams of incident responders or security experts)
Experience planning, designing, building and implementing enterprise level security engineering products and solutions in a public cloud environment (i.e. AWS, GCP, Azure)
Knowledge of secure coding practices and application security principles.
Hands-on expertise in Kubernetes and AWS cloud services with an emphasis on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing tools such as Terraform.
Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools (Jenkins), version control tools (BitBucket, Git), managing and tracking work using management tools like Jira.
Advanced in one or more programming languages (i.e. Java, Python, C/C++)
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, NIST).
Experience with incident response, forensic analysis, and threat hunting.
The SF base salary target range for this full-time position is $202,000-$252,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in San Francisco, CA. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Turists will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
