Your Team

You will be part of the Bare Metal team, your scope will cover all aspects of Dedibox and Bare Metal As A Service products.
Our team has various backgrounds and a wide range of skills, but all opinions matters and you will be part of the decision making process like any other team member.
All the team members will share their knowledge, so that you can improve your skills in all areas, languages, architectures, etc. In return, be prepared to do the same :)

Day To Day Activities

At Scaleway, the Devops is in charge of our Bare Metal platform which represents more than 100,000 servers to date.
The scope goes from the console and api of our dedicated servers Dedibox to our new product Bare Metal As A Service.

On a daily basis, you’ll be able to:

• Work on a platform that was built in-house, from the ground up. You’re not alone and will work side-by-side with experts on the platform.
• Review code contributed by other team members. We’re not organized as a hierarchy, but in a peer-to-peer fashion.
• Find the right balance between elegant solutions and time-to-market. We’re neither dogmatic or kludgy, our framework should reflect that.
• Collaborate with colleagues from other areas
• Optimize systems for performance, scalability, anti-fragility and maintainability
• Automate the production of insights from the trove of data we are sitting on
• Integrate external APIs
• Give back to the community by contributing to open-source projects

Who you are and what you know ?

You have at least 5 years of professional experience in a company or department providing technology services around hosting and/or the cloud.
Before coding a solution, you think about it. You have strong technical skills and you work well in a team environment.
You have good communication skills and your don’t hesitate to take initiative.

The skills required for the position include the following:

Tu feras partie de l’équipe Bare Metal, ton périmètre couvrira tous les aspects des produits Dedibox et Bare Metal As A Service.
Notre équipe a des expériences et compétences très variées, mais toutes les opinions comptent et tu participeras au processus de décision comme n’importe quel autre membre de l’équipe.

Les activités quotidiennes

Chez Scaleway, les Devops interviennent interviennent sur la plate-forme de nos Bare Metal, plus de 100 000 serveurs à ce jour.
Le périmètre s’étends de la console et l’api de nos serveurs dédiés Dedibox jusqu’à notre nouveau produit de Bare Metal As A Service.

Au quotidien, tu pourras :

• Travailler sur une plate-forme qui a été construite en interne. Tu n’es pas seul et nous travaillerons côte à côte avec les auteurs originaux.
• Créer et documenter des API conviviales pour les développeurs afin d’aider nos utilisateurs à adopter nos produits rapidement et sans douleur. Tu as de la chance : les consommateurs de nos produits sont des développeurs partageant les mêmes idées.
• Faire des revues de code d’autres membres de l’équipe. Nous ne sommes pas organisés hiérarchiquement mais d’égal à égal.
• Trouver le juste équilibre entre des solutions élégantes et le temps de mise sur le marché. Nous ne sommes ni dogmatiques, ni bouffons, notre framework devra refléter cela.
• Collaborer avec des collègues de différents métiers
• Optimiser nos applications en termes de performance, d’évolutivité, de robustesse et de maintenabilité.
• Automatiser la production d’informations à partir de nos données.
• Intégrer des API externes.
• Redonner à la communauté en contribuant à des projets open-source.

Bien évidement si tu ne coches pas toutes les cases, c’est normal. Chaque membre de l’équipe dispose d’un socle technique autour du système et de l’applicatif. L’esprit d’équipe et le partage font le reste.

Qui es-tu ?

Tu as une expérience professionnelle d’au moins 5 ans dans une entreprise ou un service fournissant des services technologiques autour de l’hébergement et/ou du cloud.
Avant de coder une solution, tu réfléchies. Ainsi tu disposes de solides compétences techniques et privilégies le travail d’équipe.
Tu disposes d’une bonne capacité de communication et tu es force de proposition.

Les compétences nécessaires au poste sont notamment les suivantes :

• Solide expérience en développement dans un environnement à fort trafic
