Sanofi’s Immuno-Oncology Therapeutic Area based in Vitry-sur-Seine, France, is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Principal scientist, PhD with significant experience in Immunology to deliver innovative approaches targeting cross-talk between innate immunity and adaptive immune cells within the tumour microenvironment. The candidate will lead and manage team of scientists (technicians and cadre) supporting and delivering on drug discovery programs in immuno oncology. The candidate will serve as an experienced scientist for Immunology-Oncology, guiding the research and ensuring its successful execution while supporting talent development as a mentor and role model.

The candidate will collaborate with Immuno-Oncology Research Therapeutic Area and partner functions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage 2-3 direct reports with a lead by example attitude
  • Lead cross functional project team to support immune-oncology projects from early conception to early development
  • Define and execute IO target identification, validation and functional genomics approaches
  • Identify resources and manage work to design and execute cell-based assays and immune cells genome editing, in vitro assays for target validation and pharmacology studies
  • Contribute actively in the laboratory to develop and implement new in vitro immune cell assays for target validation, drug activity evaluation and deep mechanistic understanding of new therapeutic approaches
  • Be an idea generator and advance cutting-edge science to enable continual innovation
  • Keep up to date with developments in the field, including basic research, clinical development, and competitive landscape
  • Communicate with managers and other collaborators in an open and effective manner
  • Provide and promote support for operational procedures according to Sanofi values, ethics and security
  • Advance research that underpins high-profile publications, presentations and patents
  • Identify and develop collaborations with academic and industrial partners

JOB-HOLDER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • PhD in Immuno-Oncology and international postdoc with very good track record of publications

Experience & knowledge

  • 3+ years of experience in transversal/hierarchical management, prior biotech/pharma experience welcome
  • Understanding of Research and drug development process
  • Cutting-edge expertise and depth of knowledge in Immuno-Oncology drug development

Core competencies

  • Extensive cell-based assay development with a variety of readout including flow cytometry, cytokine profiling and functional assays
  • Hands-on experience in isolation and immune phenotyping of human and/or mouse immune cell populations
  • Familiar with genome engineering techniques
  • Strong team player with excellent oral and written communication, cooperate transversally in complex environments
  • Dynamic, science driven, pro-active and impactful behaviour
