Rakuten Tech in Europe  

Rakuten Tech in Europe, a part of the Rakuten Group's Global Innovation Hub, serves as the regional hub for the European-based members of the Technology Division. We provide and optimize global platforms to support businesses within the Rakuten Ecosystem, tailoring them to specific use cases in Europe and beyond.

With over 130 members across 7 countries and 12 offices, our presence spans France (Paris), Spain (Barcelona), UK (Belfast and London), Estonia (Tallinn), and Germany (Berlin). In charge of development, delivery, and operations of big data systems, including search, recommendations, and catalog, for Rakuten’s businesses in Europe and worldwide, with the main customer being Japan Ichiba.

Position’s description

We are looking for a talented engineer to work in a cross functional teams environment (operators, developers, search experts, end-users, etc.) to deliver search services on our platform. The services you will administer support some of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan and across the world. To do so, you will be a key contributor to improve our processes, practices and tools as well as our infrastructure, software delivery and operations. 

More details :

• Configuration, tuning and deployment of our search platform, as well as search services on it
• Tailor and tune search services according to its users' requirements
• Trouble shooting and investigating of issues on the search platform
• Continuously improve the operational work flow through automation
• Continuously monitor, and maintain our services within their SLAs
• Act as a critical part of a multi-team effort to deliver, manage and maintain configuration automation to meet user requirements
• Document, design various processes geared toward continuously improving our services 

Profile

• Minimun 3 years' Linux system administration experience 
• Understanding of JVM 
• Experience to use and manage CI/CD fundamentals (preferably in Jenkins) 
• Experience in administing monitoring system by Shinken/Prometheus/Graphite/Grafana etc... 
• Experience in python and Java 

Profile +++   

• 5 years' Linux system administration experience 
• Experience of Linux Core tuning 
• Understanding of JVM, with experience of GC tuning 
• Experience in administing cassandra cluster and cassadnra tuning 
• Knowledge of Apache solr / Apache Lucene 
• Experience in administing K8s/Mesos etc... 
• Experience in administing monitoring system by Shinken/Prometheus/Graphite/Grafana etc... 
• Understanding of big scale service deployment (infrastructure design, networking etc...) 
• Experience Service network design by HAproxy/Nginx etc.... 
• Experience to use Hadoop/Spark/Mapreduce/HDFS etc...
