The HR Director, APJ Region will have responsibility over a multi-region, multi-country territory that consists of established counties with which Pure does business and emerging countries that are establishing Pure’s presence as a data and storage market leader. This is a “Business First” HR leadership role that will enable business success through amplifying our culture and increasing the organizational effectiveness of Pure’s People strategy across APJ

This role combines strategic thinking with a “roll up your sleeves” approach - a combination of “big company thinking” with “small company scrappiness” is essential to be successful in this role and make the short- and long-term impact.

This includes:

  • Collaborate with senior leaders in the APJ region predominantly in Sales, Go to Market , Marketing and Customer Experience function to understand business objectives, identify HR needs, and develop and implement strategic HR initiatives.
  • Leading business and companies through multiple stages of growth and / or decline, and balancing business and people needs through these stages.
  • Lead and develop a team of HR professionals in the APJ region, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management to foster their growth and effectiveness.
  • Leading through Culture and Values through language, actions, and the complete employee experience.
  • Consulting on and improving the organizational design, role structure, and communication flow to align to business strategy and priorities in the region.
  • Being a Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on an array of business and HR matters...and knowing when to engage with cross-functional experts within the company.
  • Having working knowledge and expertise of complex business topics that influence our people strategy (examples: pension schemes, legal entity creation, Works Council engagement).
  • Providing expertise and influence in organization development, including site strategy and global workforce management, as well as an understanding of how to participate in and impact Pure’s business growth strategy.
  • Being a champion for data and metrics: leveraging analytics to influence business leaders and shaping direction and guidance.
  • Providing change management and leadership coaching to successfully embrace opportunities of scale and growth.
  • Interacting across a sophisticated global HR organization and COE’s, from Learning & Development and Talent Management to Total Rewards and People Analytics.
  • Leading and Participating in company-wide talent initiatives, collaborating for global success for Pure Storage Talent Organization.
  • Delivering all HR programs such as performance assessments, promotions, succession planning, and employee engagement plans with Excellence and global consistency.


  • University Degree or equivalent plus 15+ years of relevant & progressive HR experience
  • Strong business acumen paired with talent acumen and business-centric problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record of navigating organizational boundaries and building strong partnerships with stakeholders to influence decisions/actions and produce results
  • Requisite experience on various employment and labor laws spanning Asia Pacific and Japan.
  • A “business first” mindset of understanding Pure’s portfolio of products and services, and using that knowledge to apply HR and People solutions and outcomes
  • A “roll up your sleeves approach” - An ability to toggle across the strategic and operational - the ability to balance the day-to-day work activities across an array of client groups while instilling value-added business partnership
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • An awareness that to thrive in today’s economy, a global mindset and approach is paramount
  • Demonstrated competence in the various HR functional areas: employee engagement, performance management, learning and development, data and analytics, etc…
  • Demonstrated Success in leading and participating in Global HR initiatives.
  • Prior experience with a technology company required; cloud, BI/analytics, or platform as a service setting preferred
  • Thrives in an unstructured environment and helps others do the same
  • Certificate in employment law (not required though valuable in this role)

You will be based in Singapore. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 3 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.
