Position Summary

As Lead Frontend, you will mainly focus on mentoring our Frontend Engineers team across multiple squads, while contributing to most technical projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and future-proof our Frontend stack in collaboration with our Director of Technology, senior Frontend engineers and your Backend lead peer
  • Share knowledge and mentor team members while contributing to the code base
  • Take structural decisions impacting Frontend developer experience, delivery process and overall project quality
  • Work closely with the product team as well as the tech teams to articulate, document, design but also implement features
  • Bring your field expertise and know-how to help solve problems creatively and effectively while making sure ideas from your team are considered and evaluated properly
  • Manage our most senior Frontend Engineers on a daily basis (Lead technical recurring meetings, 1-1 and other ad-lib meetings)
  • Lead recruitment effort of frontend team members by working with HR team, fellow senior engineers, evaluating candidates and reviewing technical assignments you designed
  • Promote the company's mission and values
  • Foster a “Lead by example” culture

Key Candidate Requirements

  • First successful experience leading a team of developers
  • 8+ years experience with Javascript, along with common libraries such as Next.js, React, Redux, and bundlers (eg. Webpack, Vite)
  • Experience building fast and scalable Frontend codebases using Next.js, React & Redux
  • Expertise in the Node ecosystem and technologies (ie. JS runtimes, deployment, dependency management)
  • Strong knowledge of standard web APIs and protocols (ie. http, modern browser APIs)
  • Knowledgeable in common Javascript functional programming patterns (immutability, pure function, reducer) and comfortable with more advanced topics (currying, function composition, memoization)
  • Able to articulate Frontend needs in a technical manner to stakeholders
  • Eager to implement automated end-to-end, functional and unit tests
  • Proficient with Git, Unix and all others day-to-day developer tools
  • Expert in Javascript tooling such as Eslint, Webpack, TypeScript and Cypress
  • Experience with SCRUM methodology and squad-based organization is a plus
  • Experience leading a front-end technological migration (eg. CRA to Next.js) is a plus
  • Familiarity with continuous integration, Docker, Kubernetes is a plus
  • Familiarity with third-party integrations best practices (eg. Stripe, Heap Analytics or similar) a plus
  • Interest in Python, Go, and other language or technologies in general a strong plus
  • Ability to communicate in French and English about your projects to shareholders
