We are looking for a talented self starter candidate to join our engineering team as Senior Backend Engineer.

The work will focus mostly on greenfield development and improvement of existing systems.
Projects will include building mobile APIs, developing micro services to evolve our architecture, and perfecting a number of systems that our business depends on, like real time database, fraud detection, payment processing. Our technology stack is based predominantly on firebase.

We have a minimalist approach to using external frameworks, with emphasis on maintainability and fast turnaround and
Continuous Integration & Delivery.

You will participate in building an app that is changing the micromobility paradigm and is gearing up to scale to millions of users.

• Build, Improve, Consolidate our backend systems in order for pony to be future proof and flexible

• Improve our delivery process (QA tests, continuous integration, automated screenshots, code reviews, etc)

• Work closely with all the teams (tech, ops, product, cs, management) to understand the business requirements and the challenges ahead

• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in terms of robustness, safety and flexibility of our backend systems

• Design and implement the innovation and tech roadmap

• Is able to writing testable and reusable code

• Familiarity with Firebase and the Google Cloud Platform

• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs

• NodeJS and Express

• Familiarity with both relational and non-relational databases (and knowing when to use one or the other)

• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment

• BDD experience is a huge plus

• 5+ years experience in back-end development

• Computer Science/Maths/Physics/Engineering/similar Degree

• Quick learner with an ambitious and results driven personality

• Work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication and organisational skills
