Science Coordinator on board
Start date: January 2026 – A training period on board will be organized prior to deployment.
We are looking for a skilled Science Coordinator to support and oversee scientific operations
on board our polar expedition vessel. The candidate will liaise between the scientific teams and
the ship’s crew to ensure smooth coordination and operation of research activities at sea.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate scientific activities during polar expeditions.
Operate Zodiac boats safely to transport researchers and equipment.
Apply and enforce safety protocols at all times.
Communicate effectively with both scientists and maritime crew.
Follow the Safety, Environmental, and Management System (SEMS).
Participate in safety drills and emergency procedures.
Maintain clear records and write handover notes for replacements.
Required Qualifications
Solid maritime experience is essential.
Proven experience operating Zodiac boats
Background in engineering, technical sciences, or maritime systems
Good understanding of navigation, shipboard safety rules, and polar operations.
Comfortable working closely with scientists without necessarily having a research background.
Strong safety culture and risk assessment awareness.
Fluency in English and French is mandatory.
