Get to know us

Do you want to help us shape what the future of work will look like and how it will best embrace our life's aspirations? If this sounds like a journey you want to embark on, we may have the right role for you! PayFit is an intuitive software as a service payroll and HRIS solution designed specifically for SMBs. Since 2015, we have set ourselves a mission to simplify payroll for SMBs and enable employers and employees to grow together. We are a European company operating from 3 main countries (France, Spain, and the UK) where we are supporting over 18,000 clients.

Creating a fulfilling work environment and culture is also a core mission at PayFit, and our day-to-day work philosophy is reflected in our four values:

Care: We genuinely care for others whoever they are, whatever they think.

Excellence: We aim to improve and achieve better results every day.

Humility: Staying humble and exchanging transparent feedback helps us to grow and improve.

Passion: We are the architects of PayFit's success.

A key part of our culture, and essential for our success, is also improving the diversity of our teams and building an inclusive culture where you can be yourself at work.

This is why our recruitment focuses on the skills you demonstrate, and not only on your academic background or previous professional experiences. At PayFit we understand that you can gain applicable skills through a variety of life experiences and we are interested in knowing them, too.

Location :
The position is based in France or Spain

Position Overview :

PayFit is seeking an experienced engineer to join the Payroll team. As a Global Team at Payfit, the role of the Payroll squad is to ensure that PayFit clients can close their payroll reliably and on time.

The services maintained by the squad allow for instance to calculate the monthly payroll of clients, generate the payslips of employees, let a client undo a monthly payroll in autonomy or display a preview of payslips at any time. The domain is broad and deployed across three different countries, which offers exciting architectural challenges.

As a Software Engineer in the Payroll squad, your mission will be to:
- Be part of a product team (Design, Engineering, and Product) to define issues to solve and work on.

- Improve our craft by defining the best architecture to satisfy the product requirements (DDD or System design).

- Promote software development best practices (clean code, low-complexity, maintainable, well tested and documented)

- Own all the areas of the team's projects back-end, front-end and infrastructure.

This role is for you if:

- You have a strong experience in Typescript, Node.js, React and the overall Javascript ecosystem.
- You have a solid understanding of software fundamentals (data structures, software architecture, design patterns).

- You are comfortable with AWS services (like Lambda, Step functions, workflow orchestration) and Infrastructure as Code.
- You have good expertise in testing, monitoring, and continuous deployment.
- You can write RFCs, discuss them, and reach conclusions.

It would be great if you also:

- Have good communication skills and can adapt your talking points to a non-technical audience;

- Are a team player who strives on sharing his knowledge with others, - someone who believes that team collaboration is more valuable than individual progress.

- Have an hands-on experience with Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Architectures. You’re able to help the team transition toward its new architectural vision. You like to seek opportunities and build strategies.

If you think you would be a good fit even if you don't meet 100% of the requirements, we would love to hear from you!
