Descriptif du poste

Gas turbines in open and combined cycle configurations represent a considerable portion of the global electricity production. Their operation flexibility and their availability can effectively compensate for the variability of renewable energies, ensuring their deployment. Metroscope software, as a fault detection and diagnosis tool, assists operators in maintaining the efficiency and availability of power generation assets, including combined cycle gas turbines (CCGT).

In order to do this, the Ops team at Metroscope has developed digital twins of full CCGTs, including gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, steam turbines and condensers, and used these models to bring diagnostics to CCGT operators by leveraging deviations of process measurements, like temperature, pressure or flow.

Each component in the model is characterized by a set of performance parameters, such as efficiencies, heat transfer coefficients and friction coefficients. These parameters could serve as performance indicators if calculated in real-time, enabling the detection of degradations due to faults or aging, as well as improvements after a maintenance interventions. Moreover, by monitoring these parameters, the model could be easily updated to better represent the desired state.

This internship would cover the adaptation of a full CCGT digital twin to monitor these new indicators, and the development of a recalibration workflow to update the models following maintenance work.

Missions

Once introduced to Metroscope solution and tools for modeling industrial installations, you will perform the following tasks:

  • Conduct a literature review on the most standard indicators to assess components and process performance.

  • Design and develop a solution to automatically monitor these indicators.

  • Evaluate these indicators on real industrial case studies.

  • Assess the effectiveness of a maintenance using parameters evolution on a real use-case.

  • Propose a workflow to recalibrate a model if large deviations are detected.

Joining Metroscope, you’ll benefit from:

  • A positive impact on the climate. We are committed to the energy transition and contribute to the energy efficiency of industrial players, particularly power plants (nuclear, gas, etc.)

  • A human, positive and caring work environment, which values cultural exchanges

    Perks & Benefis

  • 🚇 Pass Navigo 75% covered by Metroscope OR a soft mobility budget (up to 700€/year).

  • 🍽️ Lunch card (10€ / day - 60% covered by Metroscope).

  • 🌻 Yoga and sport classes

  • 🛶 Team buildings & offsites.

Profil recherché

  • You are currently in an engineer school and are looking for a 3 month internship starting this summer.

  • You have some prior experience with modeling, ideally with Modelica or Python.

  • You are interested in the energy sector, and in studying in details industrial processes.

  • You are dynamic, autonomous and want to work in a team .

  • You have some basis in data science and statistics.

Déroulement des entretiens

Stage 1 -  Call with tutor - 30min: high level discussion to get to know you, check mandatory requirements for the role, answer your questions.

Stage 2: Technical interview at the office 1h: to assess your skills for the role.

To smoothen and speed up the process, we might group stages.
