We are seeking a visionary Director of Engineering – R&I to architect our technology roadmap and accelerate breakthrough product concepts from idea to industrialization. Partnering closely with R&D and business leadership, you will turn strategic intent into executable portfolios that strengthen our market leadership in demanding aerospace domains.
What you will lead
R&I Strategy & Technology Roadmap — Frame an audacious, data‑driven technology strategy aligned to enterprise goals and aerospace market shifts (advanced materials, propulsion/electrification & hydrogen readiness, avionics & software, AI‑enabled engineering, digital thread/MBSE).
Portfolio Governance — Chair high‑impact decision forums, select and sequence initiatives, and continually rebalance the pipeline by value, risk, TRL/IRL, and resource constraints.
Venture Scouting & Partnerships — Identify acquisition targets, strategic partners, and co‑development opportunities to accelerate capability build‑up.
Concept-to-Industrialization — Own execution from feasibility to maturity; ensure seamless handoff to manufacturing and industrial operations.
Budget, Value & Risk — Manage the R&I operating budget, optimize cost structures, and institutionalize value measurement (e.g., time‑to‑market, cost‑out, yield, reliability).
Technology Intelligence — Run a proactive tech watch across materials, processes, software, certification trends, and competitive signals; translate insights into action.
People & Culture — Shape a high‑performing, multidisciplinary team; clarify roles, grow capabilities, and champion excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
Education & Experience: Advanced engineering degree; 10+ years leading R&I/Engineering in Aerospace/Defense/Railway.
Technical leadership: End‑to‑end program ownership; portfolio governance; multidisciplinary team management.
Domain depth (nice‑to‑have): Certification ecosystems (EASA/FAA), systems engineering (ARP4754A), software safety (DO‑178C), advanced composites/additive manufacturing, propulsion/electrification, sustainability/SAF.
Business acumen: Budget mastery, value‑based prioritization, make/buy/M&A diligence.
Languages: Fluent English; French native.
