The Packaging Science Center (PSC) teams initiate and pilot scientific and technical programs in the fields of Materials, Transformation & Recycling, and Dispensers to respond to L’Oréal’s challenges regarding sustainability, consumer experience and product performance. As a worldwide centre of scientific expertise, made of open-minded specialists located in Europe, USA, and China, and with suppliers in nearly every country in the world, we work for all L’Oréal brands, divisions, and types of cosmetic products! Concentrating on sustainability, improved performance, and consumer experience, we build and extend internal and external ecosystems with our key partners to crack these exciting challenges.

Currently we have five offers, starting at mid-2024 for a duration of 1 year.

1) Material Science apprentice : Recycled plastics materials evaluation and methodology development

Location : Aulnay-sous-Bois & Clichy

Mission :

• Evaluation of new recycled materials (PCR) according to our technical specifications and internal regulations;
• Interactions with suppliers throughout the validation of new PCR chosen upstream
• Characterization in the PSC laboratory of certain recycled plastics (mainly polyolefins) and comparison of their properties
• Optimization of PCR validation methodology to make it more relevant
• Construction of a validation file and associated methodology for each of the validated materials

Learning :

• Knowledge of recycled plastics and recycling technologies.
• Skills to manage multiple topics in parallel
• Use of certain laboratory equipment for material characterization.
• interact with different internal contacts (packaging, purchasing, etc.) but also with material suppliers and in an international team

2) Transforma tion & Recycling Science apprentice : Natural Material process transformation industrialization

Location : Clichy

Mission

Development of molding processes related to the transformation of natural materials

• Research into technologies to be explored (screening & pre selection of players)
• Construction of a test plan for different types of parts
• Carry out the various tests and analyze the results
• Capitalizing on knowledge and writing best practice guides
• Representation of the project’s ecosystem of players (raw materials, formulators, processors, etc.)

Learning

During this internship, you will get to work on strategic and concrete projects. You will be autonomous (managed by an expert of the Transformation team and will manage your own projects (timings, communications, costs & analysis …). You will gain knowledge on Transformation, material composition & characterization, packaging manufacturing, project management, etc.

3) Transformation & Recycling Science apprentice : Surface functionalization for a better user experience

Location : Clichy

Mission

Research & Innovation of technical solutions enabling us to treat a specific user experience issue coming from a packaging aesthetics aspect after end-user interaction with it.
You will:

• Work with inner and outer experts on the subject, in order to provide a scientific and industrial state-of-the art of possible ways to respond to our technical challenges,
• Participate to the design of an experimentation approach to test all technologies potential and identify our best partners to work with,
• Contribute to the development of specific packaging component with our best partners,
• Participate of the evaluation and validation of the final solution proposal.

Learning

During this internship, you will get to work on strategic and concrete projects. You will be autonomous and will manage your own projects (scientific approach, project timeline and deliverables, communication, etc.). You will gain knowledge on packaging science and technologies, packaging manufacturing, project management, etc.

4) Glass & Decoration Science apprentice : 2 possible topics, Glass Flexible Bottle and Plastic Mirror

Location : Clichy

Mission :

• Pursue the scouting of technos, ecosystem and partnership able to be part of a such development
• Conduct the right experiments and provide scientific datas to support them
• Finalize the proof of interest of such technos / projects
• Realize the right mock-ups to illustrate technos/products
• Embark the appropriate intern people & teams
• Built the right knowledge

Learning

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in technological scooting, and conduct exploratory experiments on a scientific project. You will also be able to discover various knowledge on L’Oreal packagings & future technologies.

What do you need to apply?

• You are a student with a Master or M. Sc. Degree in Engineering School or University.
• You are looking for a 1 year apprenticeship opportunity.

If your candidacy is selected, you will be invited to a telephone interview with a recruiter. This is an exploratory discussion to get to know you better and identify the job, the field, the division that best fits with your profile.

Last step if the exploratory interview is positive: you will have the opportunity to meet your potential future manager for a second and final interview to discuss the missions you will be given.

En tant que centre d’expertise scientifique mondial, constitué par des collaborateurs localisés en Europe, aux USA, et en Chine, et collaborant avec des fournisseurs présents pratiquement partout dans le monde, nous travaillons pour toutes les marques du groupe L’Oréal, toutes les divisions et types de produits cosmétiques !
Avec un focus sur les aspects de responsabilité écologique, de performance et d’expérience consommateur, nous renforçons notre écosystème interne et externe avec nos partenaires clés afin d’apporter des solutions à tous ces défis technologiques très stimulants.

1) Offre Science des Matériaux : Evaluation de matériaux plastiques recyclés et mise en place d’une méthodologie de validation

1. Lieu : Aulnay-sous-Bois & Clichy
2. Mission :
   • Evaluation de nouveaux matériaux recyclés (PCR) selon nos spécifications techniques et réglementations internes
   • Interactions avec les fournisseurs tout au long de la validation des nouveaux PCR choisis en amont
   • Caractérisation au laboratoire PSC de certains plastiques recyclés (polyoléfines essentiellement) et comparaison de leurs propriétés
   • Optimisation de la méthodologie de validation des PCR pour la rendre plus pertinente
   • Construction d’un dossier de validation et de la méthodologie associée pour chacun des matériaux validés
3. Apprentissage :
   • connaissances des plastiques recyclés et les technologies de recyclage
   • compétences à gérer plusieurs sujets en parallèle
   • utilisation de certains équipements de laboratoire pour la caractérisation des matériaux
   • interagir avec différents interlocuteurs en interne (packaging, achats, …) mais aussi avec des fournisseurs de matériaux et dans une équipe internationale

2) Offre Science de la Transformation & du Recyclage : Industrialisation de procédés de transformation des matières naturelles

1. Localisation : Clichy
2. Mission : Projet d’industrialisation d’un procédé de mise en oeuvre de matières naturelles en vue de production à grande échelle
   • screening et proposition de pre-selection des acteurs
   • Définition des plans de tests
   • Réalisation et suivi des essais
   • Rédaction du guide de bonnes pratiques
   • Représentation de l’écosystème d’acteurs du projet (matières premières, formulateurs, transformateurs, etc.)
3. Apprentissage : Durant ce stage, tu travailleras sur des projets stratégiques et concrets. Tu seras autonome (managé par un expert de l’équipe Transformation) et géreras tes propres projets (délais, communication, couts et analyse). Tu gagneras des connaissances sur le transformation des matériaux, leur composition et leur caractérisation, la fabrication des packagings, la gestion de projets, etc…

3) Offre Science de la Transformation & du Recyclage : fonctionnalisation de surface pour améliorer l’expérience utilisateur

1. Localisation : Saint-Ouen
2. Mission : Recherche & Innovation de solutions technologiques nous permettant de traiter un problème d’expérience utilisateur bien précis : l’aspect d’esthétique dégradé suite à la manipulation de l’emballage
   • Tu travailleras avec des experts internes et externes, dans le but de proposer un état de l’art scientifique et industriel démontrant les pistes d’opportunités technologiques nous permettant de répondre à nos challenges techniques,
   • Tu participeras de la construction d’un plan d’expérimentation pour tester les pistes technologiques sélectionnées, afin d’identifier les partenaires à fort potentiel avec qui mener le sujet,
   • Tu contribueras au développement des composants d’emballages spécifiques avec les technologies de nos meilleurs partenaires,
   • Tu participeras à l’évaluation et à la validation de la meilleure solution technologique proposée
3. Apprentissage : Tu travailleras sur des projets à fort impact stratégique. Tu seras autonome sur la gestion de tes projets (définition de l’approche scientifique à adopter, construction du planning avec les tâches/jalons/livrables, les supports de communication, l’animation des échanges avec nos contributeurs, etc.). Tu développeras de la connaissance sur les sciences et les technologies des emballages, les procédés de fabrication, la gestion de projet, etc.

Tu es :

• En Master ou Master Recherche en Ecole d’ingénieur ou en Université.
• En projet de fin d’études.
• En capacité de fournir une convention d’apprentissage d’une durée d’un an émise par ton organisme de formation.
• Capable d’évoluer dans un environnement anglophone.

Si ta candidature est sélectionnée, tu seras invité(e) par un recruteur à échanger lors d’un entretien téléphonique. Cette discussion ouverte est pour apprendre à mieux te connaître et identifier le métier, le domaine, la division sur lesquels il est pertinent de te positionner.

Dernière étape si l’entretien exploratoire est positif : tu auras l’occasion de rencontrer ton potentiel(e) futur(e) manager pour un deuxième et dernier entretien afin de discuter des missions confiées.
