Position Overview:

The Music Royalties Assistant and Analyst is responsible for supporting the administration,

calculation, analysis, and distribution of music royalties. This role involves working closely

with various departments, including finance, legal, and licensing, to ensure accurate and

timely royalty payments to songwriters, publishers, and other stakeholders. The ideal

candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a passion for the

music industry.


Profil recherché

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Management:

  • Input and maintain royalty-related data in the company’s royalty management

system.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of data entry.

  • Regularly update royalty statements and records.

2. Royalty Calculations and Payments:

  • Assist in the calculation of royalties based on contracts, licenses, and usage

data.

  • Prepare and process royalty payments to rights holders.

  • Reconcile royalty statements and resolve any discrepancies.

3. Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze royalty data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for

optimization.

  • Prepare detailed reports for internal stakeholders, including financial

performance and royalty distribution summaries.

  • Assist in forecasting royalty payments and budgeting.

4. Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and industry regulations.

  • Assist in internal and external audits of royalty processes and payments.

  • Maintain accurate records for audit purposes.

5. Stakeholder Communication:

  • Respond to inquiries from publishers, and other rights holders regarding

royalty payments and statements.

  • Collaborate with other departments to address and resolve royalty-related

issues.

6. Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and

accuracy in royalty management.

  • Stay updated with industry best practices and technology advancements.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Music

Business, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in royalty administration, accounting, or a related field

preferred.

  • Experience with royalty management software and databases is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • English and French Proficiency

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of music industry revenue streams, including performance

rights, mechanical royalties, and digital royalties.

  • Familiarity with music licensing and copyright laws.

Work Environment:

  • Office setting with potential for remote work.

  • May require occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
