Descriptif du poste

Joko’s vision is to help people shop smarter. Beyond just getting the best prices, we aim to provide our users with tools to understand the environmental and social impact of their purchases and act on it. We have recently shipped a carbon footprint calculator, that lets users leverage their bank transactions data to compute their carbon footprint and track its evolution over time. In 2023, we want to go further and bring environmental impact information at the product level, directly during the users’ shopping journey.

As a Social Responsibility Intern at Joko, you will be at the interface of Software Engineering and Product. You will explore and implement the best strategies to provide information to users and allow them to act on the social and environmental impact of their purchases, on the different Joko products (mobile app, browser extension, web services, etc.).

The challenges you will tackle will involve understanding users’ needs and decision-making process, analyzing various data sources on the environmental impact of products and companies and exploring how we could integrate such information in Joko’s products. At the end of the day you will be building features that will have a direct impact on millions of people. To help you on these tasks, you will be mentored by members of the Responsibility team, both on the Product and Software Engineering side.

If you have an engineering background, want to explore both product and technical roles, and have a strong interest in climate change issues and how to raise awareness on those, do reach out to us! We’ll be delighted to get to know you and see what products we can build together.

Your responsibilities will be a mix of Tech and Product roles, and will be adjusted based on your own experience and what drives you most on a daily basis:

  • Software design: You will be responsible for challenging the vision of the Responsibility team, and translating it into a viable architecture on all your projects.
  • Implementation, deployment & monitoring in production: Helped by the Engineering team, you will be responsible for integrating into our product the most scalable and robust algorithms you will have worked on. Finally, you will monitor their impact on our users.
  • Exploration and roadmapping: You will work on all steps of the roadmapping process – you will take part in the discovery of new features, research possible solutions, prioritize what to work on next in order to maximize the impact on users, and prepare specifications.
  • Data: You will follow on a daily basis the different key performance indicators that reflect the state of the app’s usage in order to iterate quickly and identify new features.
  • Tools & processes: You will help improve the way the Product / Engineering teams work by proposing new methods and developing internal tools.
