Descriptif du poste

Context:

The “Molecular basis of altered immune homeostasis” laboratory (https://www.institutimagine.org/en/gael-menasche-et-fernando-sepulveda-188) at the Imagine Institute in Paris, offers a Postdoctoral position in Immunology. Our laboratory studies the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying severe alterations of the immune system using rare monogenic disorders as paradigm. In order to improve diagnosis and treatment, we aim to identify new genetic defects and characterize the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying disease development.

Project:

Immune-related actinopathies are primary immune deficiencies (PIDs) associated with gene defects impacting actin cytoskeleton remodeling. Phenotypically, patients affected by immune related actinopathies can present with a large spectrum of clinical manifestations. In this project we aim to better understand the pathophysiological mechanisms by which deleterious mutations in actin-related PID genes contribute to primary immunodeficiencies. In particular we seek (i) to characterize the impact that deleterious mutations in these genes have in different immune cell functions; and (ii) to determine the mechanisms by which alterations in cell migration could contribute to disease pathogenesis. To do so, we will leverage a biobank of primary cells and cell lines derived from patients, and a microfluidic approach to study cell migration under confinement.

The position:

We offer a challenging research project in a stimulating interdisciplinary environment. The position is funded by the French research agency grant for a 2-year period. During this period, the successful candidate is expected to apply and secure an external fellowship. The position starts in 2024 upon agreement.

Profil recherché

Your profile:

Self-motivation and ability to work independently are vital. Additional experience in animal experimentation, cell imaging and flow cytometry are considered a plus, but excellent applicants eager to learn these techniques in our lab will be also considered.

Your application:

Please send a motivation letter with a statement of research interest, a detailed CV with publication list and two references to Dr. Fernando Sepulveda (fernando.sepulveda@inserm.fr)
