Radek Olexa is the CEO of the Czech local branch of HighTec EDV international company. Nowadays, his day is more about organization care than the technical work on application and system solutions done in his early days. It means more meetings, sync calls, and communication. He still helps pass his technical knowledge to teams from time to time.
He is interested in various domains, from compiler technology, real-time operating systems, and customer applications to management theories and organizational culture. From his talks, it seems he reads a lot, especially about a new domain of management and leadership practices :-)
Michal is Java developer at HighTec. He joined the company at the beginning of 2018. He works on an integrated development environment. Michal used to work for a corporate in the past but decided to start a new journey as he was excited about starting new team and building new product from scratch. His day is full of programming in Java, reviewing code written by other colleagues and studying new technologies. Michal enjoys coding, studying as well as flexibility and responsibility the company gives him in everyday work. Michal loves to travel, exploring cultural and natural heritages of the world, loves good meals and coffee. He also likes running, riding a bike and reading books.
Jakub is a university student who works as an application engineer. He is responsible for modifying, extending, and creating new real-time embedded applications for our PXROS system. He likes working on smaller projects where he can use his school knowledge and learn new things.
Jakub has been part of HighTec for almost one year. His team consists of four people now, two students and two experienced programmers. He works part-time so that he can combine his study with a job.
Jakub is a sportsman. He plays volleyball, likes climbing and almost any other sport. He also likes to spend an adventurous time in nature but at the same time doesn't decline to go for a beer.
Michal is one of the original application team members to work at our Prague office. His job is to support our embedded tools and partners' HW and SW across platforms. During this time, he has worked on the development of base drivers, function safety projects, real-time operating systems, mentoring, and team coordination. He enjoys cooperating with on tasks with other teams in different areas, even non-technical. His schedule is busy, but family time is always priority number one.
Robert Agoston is Head of Compiler Development at HighTec and he is coordinating the toolchain development team.
He decided to move to Germany and join HighTec in 2013. The company soon recognized his skills and interest, and he became responsible for coordinating the GCC-based toolchain development in 2015. Starting from 2022 he is the lead of the new team and the code owner of the LLVM-based toolchain products.
Robert has to keep in touch with the team members, and also with other internal and external stakeholders. Working mostly from home office, Robert is checking his calendar, email inbox, instant messaging client and phone several times a day. The flexible time schedule allows him to be available when it is needed, and do his best in his most productive hours.
He likes preparing concept documentation of new features, doing code reviews, and refactoring code. In his free time he likes to spend time with his family, watch videos about woodworking, space technology, science and politics.
HighTec EDV International
Our technology - Your life | Open source | Compiler | Safety | RTOS | Agile | We do it our way | We are HighTec. We don't talk. We develop. Embedded.
We are a world-leading provider of commercial open-source compiler and embedded software tools, primarily for the automotive and industrial sectors.
We firmly focus on the Innovation, Safety, and Reliability of the products we develop. We continue to develop Open Source compiler technology to dedicated HW architectures used in robust, safety-related applications. We build our own modern, service-oriented Real-Time operating system, PXROS-HR, designed to create complex safety-critical applications on multiple cores.
Brembo brakes on a Ferrari or Claas combine harvester. Tesla in a parking lot, Liebherr crane in front of a building, or a tram on the street. Schindler elevator, SMA solar system, or Argo AI self-driving car. Bosch, Intel, Scania, Volvo, Audi... What do they all have in common? They use our operating system and compiler. Sounds incredible? Our agile, highly qualified team keeps up with the major players in many industries. With our 40 years of experience, we bring great ideas to life quickly and safely.
We have always been different and one step ahead. We started with Open Source and an operating system for multicore Micro-Controllers when nobody believed in them or us. Ten years later, we are world leaders in compilers and operating systems in the industrial and automotive market segments, without marketing and big talk.
a local branch of an international company, is based in Prague, just a short walk from Vyšehrad. At present, there are 12 of us working in several agile teams:
„We believe in Open Source. We strive to make it available in applications that have been the domain of proprietary solutions. We look under the hood of modern and non-standard HW architectures. We know the insides and outs of GCC and LLVM technologies. We can translate the latest C/C++ standards into optimized opcode sequences so our customers can rely on them. …And further down the road, who knows if the embedded world will remain with C/C++ and that we won´t reveal the utility of another, such as RUST language"
„Our job is to look at things closely. Understand how they work, figure out their uses and pass our experience on. We learn the latest technologies, put them together, combine them. Sometimes we even tinker a bit to see what they can do. Join us in the world of Embedded technology; This trip won't just end!“
Michal Frydrych, application team leader
