Job Description:
Network Engineer with 3 to 5 year of experience , which will meet, but is not limited to the following minimum requirements:
Patching cable installation and recovery
Installing power leads
Cisco, Nexus switch installation
Installing, removing, or swapping equipment
Locating and or identifying network circuits and tagging the demark location
Providing escort services for third party vendors in the facility
Adhering to the risk management processes, including conducting walkthroughs, work permits, change management, attending safety training, and reporting incidents
Comply with Company’s audit requirements, Information Protection requirements, security requirements and standards detailing physical access management, and standards for Operational Excellence
Support and assist in the troubleshooting and testing of network equipment and components, including:
restarting equipment;
troubleshooting and patching power cables;
troubleshooting and patching fiber and copper cables;
identifying a switch port location;
pinging key devices and performing DNS lookups;
troubleshooting, installing, and where necessary removing equipment and/or components;
perform visual checks for hardware failure lights or console error messages, power status and hardware labels; and
assisting with the identification and reporting of communications room environmental issues
Perform move, add, change, delete (“MACD”) activities for end user business LAN and voice devices
Maintain the inventory of the Network Devices
Update and manage the DCIM tool
Adhere to Company’s Change Management Process, BCP and DR Plans
Monitor and respond to emergency conditions affecting operations to the extent that Services can be safely provided (e.g., hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.)
Provide smart hands support for other telecommunications infrastructure such as radio systems, VSAT, etc.
Good exposure on Hyperflex solutions
Provide Smart Hands support at data center site including 24/7 emergency high touch requests
• Responsible for the on-site management of Colocation Data Centers COLO/DC contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with
established practices, procedures and local legislation
• Arranging periodic and ad hoc servicing/repair and Preventive Maintenance Schedules
• Physical intervention (electrical/mechanical) maintenance
• Reacting to alarms (BMS or Plant type alarms)
• Responding to reports that environmental conditions are out of bounds
• Adding/changing/removing device - ILO, remote managed power, and Asset Tracking
• Manage and Maintain the DC inventory and DCIM Tool
• Break Fix for IT Gear in Data Center
• Cable Mining and Inspection, device labeling, cable tracking and troubleshooting
• Capacity Management - Monitoring, Remediation, Planning and Maintenance
• DC Compliance controls - test, document, track execution, evidence repository, matrix, and SOX compliance process
• DC Visitor Access Process and record
• Decommission IT equipment
• Environmental Infrastructure Alert monitoring of the DC Facility
• Maintain the DC Floor Space (Housekeeping, including dust removal, vacuuming, subfloor cleaning, combustible walk through, etc.)
• Infrastructure changes: interact with provider, schedule, CRQ, and execution
• Inside the IT Container - Audit and validation of environment to ensure it meets infrastructure requirements and data center standards (e.g. Capacity / Temp / Humidity / Air Conditioning)
• Intelligent PDU maintenance - firmware upgrades
• Inventory - Defining requirements for patch cords, power cables, consumables (label tags, cable ties, label tape, hook-loop ties, etc.)
• Monitoring and reporting – Alarms, Fire, Mechanical, Capacity (Power and Usage), and Environment – Humidity/ Temperature
• OE Assessment and Corrections
• Physical Server Installation Ops (Racking, Network Patching, Power, and Remote Management)
• SAN Fiber Management, SOP, JSA, BCP, Emergency Response documented procedures
• Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for Data Center facility
• Management of the Data Center in the provision of infrastructure and inventory asset management
• Review COLO/DC contract compliance and ensure all SLAs are achieved
• Business interface with COLO/DC Management for day to day operational requirements
• Manage COLO/DC to resolve of any infrastructure engineering issues
