🎥 Learn more about the position and the content team.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop a deep understanding of our audience — who they are and who they want to become — to ensure our content helps them achieve their goals. [7.5%]
  • Work with our product to learn it at a deep level, write about it more accurately and capture the nuance. [7.5%]
  • Edit all content produced by the team, armed with a sharp knife and generous, actionable feedback (this will expand beyond written content this quarter). [30%]
  • Write net-new content to support our middle-funnel (and eventually top-of-funnel) efforts. [20%]
  • Coach those colleagues and contractors to hone their skills — a proverbial tide that lifts all the ships on our team, over time. [5%]
  • Manage our content production pipeline and calendar, collaborating with different stakeholders across time zones to move the roughest of drafts through the polishing process until they shine like the queen’s diamonds. [15%]
  • Optimize SEO-focused content to satisfy search intent, engage the reader, and charm The Algorithm. [5%]
  • Refresh and repurpose existing content to upgrade the value and expand our reach.[10%]

Profil recherché

Who you are

  • Preferably, you have 3+ years of editing experience at a publication or in a marketing department (B2B SaaS or e-commerce experience is a bonus).
  • If you’re transitioning into editing, you should have 5+ years in B2B SaaS or e-commerce content writing.
  • Either way, you have a proven track record with measurable results, demonstrated growth (through the advancement of responsibilities), and a learning mindset (learning new skills and polishing your current ones, consistently).
  • You are agile and adaptable, with the ability to think strategically, solve problems independently, and learn quickly in uncharted waters. We’re still building the program — you have to be okay to build it with us.
  • You excel at collaboration and communication and can work with a variety of team members with wide ranges of writing skills and experience.
  • You can uphold several standards in tandem, balancing AP style, the rules of grammar, Google’s ranking factors, and our internal style guide (which you will help build on).
  • Your writing is engaging and interesting, in addition to being technically proficient.
  • You can sweat the details while considering the bigger picture. Think of conductors: They know when a specific instrument is out of tune, but also understand how the final piece should sound when the symphony comes together.
  • You’re tech savvy (we love our tools at Gorgias) and have experience with relevant software categories, including project management software (we use Asana), CMS software (we use Webflow), CRM software (we use Hubspot), and other popular content tools (we use Ahrefs and Clearscope, among others).
  • You are passionate. To be clear, this does not mean you’re going to put in excessive hours and burn out like a cheap candle. That’s not healthy for you or helpful to anyone. What we’re looking for is someone who is going to give 100% during working hours to move the needle on our ambitious goals.

💫 About the Growth Marketing team

  • The marketing team, led by our SVP Nick Keyko [Remote in Edmonton, Canada], is made up of four main functions:

  • Maxime leads the demand gen team, which is driven by three outbound marketing channels: paid advertising, outbound email marketing, and customer referral.

  • Julien leads the product marketing team, which is responsible for understanding the market Gorgias competes in, the product we sell, and the customers that make it all possible.

  • Jeremy leads the partner marketing team, which is responsible for enabling our best-in-class partnerships team and running 30+ events a month, both online and in-person.

  • Ryan [NYC office] leads the content team. Our focus in 2023 is building a revenue-generating, middle-funnel program that will improve our current content by increasing conversion across the board. Not only will you be able to cite traffic numbers that result from your work — you’ll be able to impact the business’s bottom line.

  • New Content Editor - You?? You would sit on the content team, reporting to Ryan, our Content Marketing Manager.

  • Our content team culture (as well as Gorgias’) is highly collaborative, low ego, and open to ideas and challenges at every level. We never default to the status quo, so come to us with a better way of doing things and we’re all ears.

  • You’ll work hard, but you’ll learn a lot. Because we’re still building our program, there are tons of opportunities to feel your impact at Gorgias.

  • Our team is talented, but they’re also really easy to work with and we genuinely like one another. Our Slack discussions are punctuated with pop culture references, new music recommendations, and lunch plans.

  • We’re committed to tying content to revenue — your future resume bullets will include $$$ impacted, not just output or traffic numbers.

In the back half of 2022, our content team of two (Ryan and Jordan):

  • Completed 130 pieces of high-quality content.
  • Examples: one, two, three, four, five.
  • Developed all-new content documentation, including a full style guide, tone of voice guidelines, and a content code to guide the team.
  • Developed an automated backlink outreach program to help build authority.
  • Executed a pruning program that wiped over 100 lower-quality posts from the site.
  • Handled company comms, including a Series C announcement.

Some projects we’re working on in Q1, 2023?

  • Building a best-in-class, middle-funnel program that ties content to revenue.
  • Integrating video into our content strategy with our Video Editor joining the team.
  • Moving the “aha” moment higher in the funnel by providing more product visibility on the website.
  • Setting up lead nurturing, using our best content.

Déroulement des entretiens

The interview process
At Gorgias, we have a transparent interview process with open communication. Time is valuable, and we won’t waste yours. Here are the interview steps if your application is chosen to move on:

  1. Initial interview with one of our colleagues from the recruitment team
  2. Meet your would-be manager, Ryan, to learn more about the content team and role
  3. Complete a take-home case study that is designed to showcase your abilities and creative insights. Because this project is not paid, we won’t use your work or expect an excessive time commitment.
  4. Meet with Ryan and another member of the team to review your case study, discuss your thought process, and answer any lingering questions you might have
  5. Meet Romain, Gorgias’ co-founder, and CEO. This is a good time to ask bigger questions about the company’s path and vision, to see if the fit is mutual.
