Filigran, founded in October 2022, stands out in the cybertech ecosystem for its commitment to revolutionizing cyber threat management with a proactive approach. Its mission is to develop innovative open-source solutions designed to anticipate cyber threats, identify security gaps, and strengthen organizational security posture.
Filigran solutions are now trusted by over 6,000 public and private organizations worldwide.
Filigran is looking for a Director of Platform Engineering to lead our platform organisation through its next phase of growth. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the VP of Platform Engineering.
You will manage a team of 14 platform engineers and own the Platform Engineering roadmap execution across three distinct platform verticals — each with its own technical scope, customers, and operational challenges. You'll work hand-in-hand with a Technical Product Manager who drive product-led project management, freeing you to focus on people, architecture, and strategic execution. In addition to the three product-led verticals co-owned with the TPM, you will be directly accountable for the maintenance in operational condition of our SaaS platforms (support, provisioning, oncall).
Our internally-managed, bare-metal Kubernetes platform — the backbone of Filigran's SaaS offering. This includes provisioning, capacity planning, the full observability/monitoring/alerting stack (Grafana-based), incident management, and SLA ownership. High reliability, high stakes.
The packaging and distribution layer that enables customers to self-host the XTM Suite (OpenCTI, OpenAEV, OpenGRC). This covers Helm charts, Docker Compose configurations, and Appliance images — ensuring every deployment target is production-grade, well-documented, and easy to operate.
The tooling, automation, and processes that run Filigran's SaaS operations end-to-end — from tenant lifecycle management and provisioning to upgrades, configuration, and operational efficiency at scale.
Run 1:1s, set goals, lead performance cycles, and actively invest in the growth and well-being of every engineer on your team
Build a culture of ownership & technical excellence
Hire externally and/or promote internally to build leadership capacity across the three verticals
Own the platform roadmap across all three verticals, in close collaboration with the VP and the Technical Product Manager
Translate company-level priorities into clear product goals and team commitments
Make trade-offs explicit — between reliability, velocity, and technical debt — and communicate them clearly to stakeholders
Represent Platform Engineering in cross-functional leadership forums
Partner with the Technical Product Manager to ensure product-led delivery is well-structured, tracked, and unblocked
Own SLAs and operational reliability for Filigran Cloud and SaaS deployments
Drive continuous improvement of incident response, on-call practices, and post-mortem culture
Ensure deployment artifacts (Helm, Docker Compose, Appliance) meet quality, security, and usability standards across all supported targets
Stay close enough to the work to earn engineers' trust, spot risks early, and guide key architectural decisions
Set and uphold engineering standards across Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform, Ansible), CI/CD, observability, and cloud-native tooling (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Promote automation-first, as-code principles across all three product areas
Promote AI-first principle — beginning with review/evaluation of code produced & changes, but also as a tool to brainstorm or improve velocity
VP of Platform Engineering — your direct manager and strategic partner; you'll co-own the org design and roadmap together
Technical Product Manager — your operational partner for product-led delivery, tracking, and coordination
Platform Engineers — your team; senior engineers across Filigran Cloud, deployment artifacts, and SaaS management
Software Engineering & Product leaders — to align on deploy-ability, scalability, and reliability requirements
Security & Compliance — to ensure infrastructure and deployment practices meet certification standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.)
8+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering
3+ years in an engineering leadership role, managing engineers directly, with experience building or evolving team structures
Demonstrated ability to hire, grow, and retain senior engineers and emerging leaders
Strong technical credibility in at least two of: bare-metal/Kubernetes infrastructure, cloud-native deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP), observability stacks, IaC (Terraform, Ansible), or packaging/distribution (Helm, Docker)
Comfortable operating in fast paced environments with a lot of context switches
High sense of ownership
Excellent communication: able to align engineers, TPM, and executives with equal clarity
Remote-first mindset; based in Europe with a maximum ±2h gap from CET
Experience with Agentic AI for AI-assisted software development, and automation of daily repetitive tasks on documentation, management, organizational topics.
Fluent in English and French
Experience in a fast-growing SaaS or open-source company
Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001)
Python development background
Experience shipping self-hosted software (Helm charts, appliances, Docker-based distributions)
