Product Developer R&D M/F

About the role

The Product Developer is, within assigned projects/activities, responsible for developing new and existing products to meet the consumer and business needs (eg.product superiority, manufacturability, cost efficiency and competitiveness) 

 

What You Will Do

  • Develop new or existing consumer tissue products as the product expert in innovation projects and other product related activities, such as value engineering or quality improvements. Main focus could be on Hankies, Bathroom tissues or Kitchen towels. The participation can be on different levels – as consultant, project team member or as sub project leader. 

  • Main responsibility in projects/ activities is to lead the design / development of a product solution (based on business and technical constraints) maximising product superiority.Translate consumer needs to product functions and further to product design parameters/technical solutions 

  • Responsible for translating end-user or customer needs to product functions and design parameters/technical solutions.

  • Responsible to define or upgrade the technical requirement specification, considering e.g regulatory, patents, product safety and manufacturability. 

  • Responsible for establishing finished goods specifications for the verified and validated design solution and relevant handover documentation to BU/Product Supply Deliver cost efficient design solutions throughout the value chain and machine technologies globally. 

  • Provide input to strategic and innovation driven CAPEXes. 

  • Stay up to date on market needs, behaviour and usage pattern as well as relevant end-user or customer insights, brand platforms, category and business needs 

  • Support in monitoring Essity's and competitors’ products as well as product trends in the industry. 

  • Lead and/or participate in R&D enabling projects/activities to improve state of readiness for future Innovation. 

  • Drive and/or participate in assigned patent watch teams to secure oppositions and identify patent trends. 

  • Actively drive work in projects to protect solutions with patent filings 

 

Who You Are 

  • Master degree / PhD in Papermaking, Process engineering, Chemistry, Mechanics or Product Design 

  • Experience in working with cellulose fibers or cellulose based products is appreciated 

  • At least 2/3 years of experience in production, product development, technology or R&D 

  • Experience with statistics, modelling appreciated 

  • English: fluent – French: appreciated 

  • Adaptability to work within diverse and remote team 

  • Ability to travel in Europe and Latin America on need base 

  • International experience appreciated 

  • Can do attitude 

  • Willingness to learn
