The role

DNA Script is looking for a talented chemist/biochemist to strengthen its Analytics platform which is an important part of the Development team. The role will be at the crossroad of surface chemistry and analytics providing the team with a novel vision and understanding of their process.
The candidate will be mainly in charge of:

  • Developing analytical methods to characterize modified oligonucleotides produced by enzymatic DNA synthesis
  • Study solid supports used for DNA synthesis and their role at different stages of the synthesis process by optical/confocal microscopy
    We are looking for a person who is rigorous, methodical, well organized, detail-oriented, problem-solver and capable of playing a cross-functional role within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop optical methods for the characterization of fluorescent/non-fluorescent oligonucleotides, including PCR/qPCR probes
  • Implement confocal microscopy as new characterization tool for solid supports used for DNA synthesis
  • Perform routine analysis of modified DNA and solid supports
  • Design and conduct experiments to support R&D projects
  • Help enrich analytical platform with instruments suitable for our R&D departments
  • Write analytical protocols and analytical development reports
  • Participate in the scientific and technical state of the art review

Profil recherché

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Master 2 or Engineer in Chemistry/Biochemistry or any related field
  • Hands-on experience with optical characterization of biomolecules (UV-Vis, fluorescence, FRET, …)
  • At least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience with optical microscopy / confocal microscopy
  • Ability to design, execute, interpret, and troubleshoot experiments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated, passionate about developing tools and methods
  • Ability to work independently and within a large multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent level of English and good level of French

Desirable

  • First significant experience in laboratory and biotechnology environment
  • Experience with fluorescent DNA probes (qPCR/TaqMan)
  • Familiar with image analysis software (ImageJ, …)
