Cartoonbase is at the crossroad between a creative agency and a consultancy. It means we are solving strategic problems for our clients in the most creative way possible.

Our ambition is to leverage the power of visual thinking with well-crafted communication strategies. We are based in Brussels, Lausanne and Paris and work with multinational companies, NGOs, state organizations and SMEs.

To support our creative production, we are looking for a junior illustrator intern to join our team.

As an intern illustrator at Cartoonbase, you will:

• Participate in brainstorming sessions with the creative team to develop strong visual concepts

• Translate scripts and concepts into storyboards

• Produce illustrations from sketches to final assets (inking, colouring, rendering)

• Work in a hybrid workflow combining traditional drawing skills with digital production (Photoshop, Procreate and/or Illustrator vector illustration)

• Prepare clean production files for animation (layer organisation, naming, formats, cut assets)

• Occasionally support other creative needs within a fast-growing studio environment

You will report to the Producer (Head of Studio) and the Creative Director, and collaborate closely with project managers and the creative team.

We are looking for someone with:

• Strong drawing fundamentals and the ability to adapt to multiple visual styles

• Good knowledge of Photoshop and/or Illustrator. Procreate and After Effect are a plus.

• Comfort working with both raster and vector illustration workflows

• Animation knowledge is an asset

• Comfort sketching in collaborative or live contexts

• Detail-oriented mindset and good organisational skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

• Strong team spirit and communication skills

• Fluency in French or English (Dutch is a plus)

Internship conditions:

• Internship agreement provided by your school is mandatory

• Duration: 3 to 6 months

• Basic knowledge of English required

• Portfolio or project links required

• Portfolio review by the hiring team

• A 30-minute interview with the Producer / Head of Studio to discuss your work, motivations and the role
