Job Purpose

 The Global Head of Media Relations is responsible for promoting and protecting  AXA IM’s brand image through the development of on-going dialogue with the media, opinion leaders and influencers and the management of AXAIM’s reputation in the market. The  Reporting into the Global Head of Communications, CSR and ESG Development, the Global Head of Media

Relations plays a critical role by steering media relations activities regarding corporate, business-related and brand topics acting as the main point of contact for media externally and speakers internally. Media relations and reputation is a key line of defense in case of an issue or crisis, it requires strong personal engagement with an ability to work and take decisions under stress during crisis management.

 Key Accountabilities 

Media Relations:

  • Develop and implement proactive media relations strategies to enhance the company's visibility and positive coverage in relevant print, broadcast, and digital media outlets. 
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors, and influencers to secure high-impact media placements and manage incoming media inquiries.
  • Create compelling press releases, media pitches, and thought leadership content to effectively communicate the company's key messages and market positioning.

This involves:

  • Defining and implementing AXA IM’s global media strategy 
  • Providing strategic communication advisory on topics, content, and timing 
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships between AXA IM & media around the world - working closely with press, news agencies, TV, radio as a trusted interlocutor and managing relationships with press agencies as key business partners. 
  • Defining and managing narratives and messages for AXA IM’s public figures and preparing ad hoc media action plans on specific topics (corporate announcements, new business, funds launches…)
  • Organizing press events
  • Drafting press releases
  • Promoting consistent external communications across AXA IM’s communication teams and markets as well as managing the relationship with the AXA Group and AXA’s other entities (mainly in the UK and France) to ensure coordination and consistency of media relations across the globe
  • Monitoring and reporting key media metrics 

Reputation Management and second line of defense:

  • Lead the development and execution of reputation management strategies to protect and enhance the company's brand and reputation.
  • Monitor and analyse media coverage, social media sentiment, and industry trends to identify potential reputational risks and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and coherent messaging across all communication channels and touchpoint

This includes:

  • Identifying potential reputation risks internally and externally before they arise, enabling reactive and proactive management of crises and preserving brand & image.
  • Promoting/fostering a reputation risk culture internally as well as an active member of the AXA Global Reputation Network.
  • Working closely with the AXA Group (as well as AXA’s entities when relevant) to ensure awareness of AXA IM’s reputation risks throughout the year
  • Managing the Reputation Council and yearly reporting to the AXA Group.

Profil recherché

Role Requirements  

  • Proven track record in media relations, with a deep understanding of the global media landscape and a network of media contacts.
  • Strong crisis management skills and the ability to navigate and manage reputational challenges effectively.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align PR and reputation initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills to effectively manage a team and work cross-functionally with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of discretion and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost confidentiality and professionalism. 
  • The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively engage with very high-level management, including executive leadership, to influence and align PR and reputation strategies with overall business goals. 
  • Can-do attitude with credibility and confidence to liaise with senior level management.
  • Understanding of corporate culture and communication protocols
  • Capacity to integrate and keep abreast of the industry’s regulatory and compliance issues for purposes of communicating effectively with the media on a wide range of issues 

Essential Skills

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of at least 7 years of experience in PR and reputation management - preferably but not necessarily - within the financial services or asset management industry, with a successful track record of driving impactful media coverage and maintaining a positive corporate reputation.
