Descriptif du poste

Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.

The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!

We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing  €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology.

Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!

As Quantum & RF Characterization Engineer and part of the ECCQ (Environment Characterization & Control for Qbit ) team, you will be in charge of selecting, specifying, operating and testing quantum chips & devices which will be used to characterized the quantum environment, and also support the characterization of hardware components.

The goal of the team being to deliver a full working HW solution to other teams focusing on testing qbits, by ensuring that their test environment is stable enough for their experiments.

Study and evaluate the potential areas of improvement around the quantum processor as well as the cryo environment and instrumentation, and propose projects to address these specific problematics.

Industrialize these projects to be part of our product deliveries by increasing the TRL (Technology Readiness Level).

Define your measurement plans; test and operate the quantum chips and other hardware components, with the help of instrumentation and cabling engineers.

Ensure continuous improvement through exchange with academic and industrial partners.

Your expertise in Quantum and RF systems will directly contribute to our culture of technical excellence and innovation, shaping the future of quantum computing. As part of the team you will help and support your colleagues focusing on characterization and instrumentation for the whole hardware installations.

Responsibilities:

  • Project development:
  • Study the problematics linked to the quantum / cryo / room temperature environment and propose projects/POC to address them.
  • This could be linked for example to: electromagnetic (FNM chip), infra red (HTC chip), vibration, (…) exposures;TWPAs behavior; control electronics front end / baseband / signal generation with FGPAs / ASICs.
  • Organize and manage your project, align with other managers in the case of cross-team projects.
  • Depending on the availability: technical management of technicians / interns / PhD students.
  • Testing, Validation & industrialization:
  • Propose and help to implement a testing environment for the projects you initiated or attributed to you.
  • Elaborate a measurement plan
  • Lead and perform the tests, characterization and measurement, with the help of instrumentation engineers and colleagues from Platform team
  • Push the TRL validations up to the requested level from management team.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization:
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to the test chip, cryo environment, or instrumentation / control electronics.
  • Implement root cause analysis process if needed.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Technology watch on state of the art for: Instrumentation for quantum control electronics and quantum test chips.
  • Maintain exchange with academic and industrial partners by attending national and international workshops and conferences (in accordance with the budget and conference plan defined at the company level, as well as the team’s organization and plans).
  • Evaluate and choose equipment among existing commercial or academic solutions, in agreement with the rest of the team.
  • Follow and participate to internal or external technical training sessions.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams & partners:
  • Work closely with other engineering teams, including your teammate, Quantum Hardware Infra colleagues, physicists and software engineers, to ensure the seamless alignment of hardware and software in our quantum processors.
  • Attend regular internal workshop / guild event about quantum experiment and theory.
  • Organize regularly internal workshops to the rest of the team to popularize technical knowledge to other team members.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Ensure all design processes, test results, and system configurations are thoroughly documented. Provide regular updates and reports to your manager and the team on your projects progress and timelines.
  • Requirements:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Quantum Experimental Physics, EEE, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience of experimental work in quantum mechanics, preferably in the field of superconducting quantum circuits.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Experience of working with electrical test equipment (oscilloscope, VNA, spectrum analyzer, multimeter, etc.)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including software engineers, physicists, and hardware suppliers
  • Experience in software programming (Python)
  • Business proficiency in English is mandatory
  • Nice to have: business proficiency in French is preferred, in-depth knowledge of RF systems, characterization, and debugging, particularly in a high-frequency and metrology environment, scientific Writing, knowledge of KICAD is a plus
  • Benefits:

  • 25-day vacation policy (as per French law) + RTT
  • Half of transportation cost coverage (as per French law), or yearly allowance for bike enthusiasts
  • Competitive health benefits with Helium/AXA
  • Meal vouchers with Swile, as well as access to a fully equipped kitchen
  • Parental benefits with crèche support
  • Flexible remote policy, up to 40 % a month
  • Language courses covered by the company
  • Mental health support with moka.care
  • Subsidized membership with Urban Sports Club
  • Recruitment Process:

  • Screening Call with Giusy, Talent Acquisition Specialist (30 min)
  • Hiring Manager Interview with one of the Experimentalist Team Leader (45 min)
  • Technical Interview/Presentation with the Team (60 min)
  • Leadership and Fit Interview (45 min)
  • Research shows that women might feel hesitant to apply for this job if they don't match 100% of the job requirements listed.
