The position

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Risk Manager to establish our risk framework and processes for our new merchant collection product.

✨ Main tasks

Build & Scale

  • Develop and enhance the risk framework for our merchant collection product across diverse industries, including Financial Management Saas, crowdfunding or e-commerce.
  • Define underwriting policies for merchant onboarding, encompassing measures like rolling reserves or collateral.
  • Establish merchant monitoring policies and methodologies, covering exposure calculation, fraud, and dispute levels.
  • Define rules for transaction monitoring to identify suspicious transactions related to fraud or money laundering.


  • Review high-risk use cases during the sales cycle, defining appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Onboard merchants and streamline operational processes for enhanced business scalability.
  • Investigate suspicious activities (transactions, chargebacks), liaise with customers when required, and implement remediation measures, including account termination.

Your Team

Join our dynamic and expanding Risk team, led by our experienced Lead Risk.

The Risk team operates within a department alongside the Compliance, Legal, and Internal Control teams. As a key member of this team, you will work closely with the compliance, operations and sales teams, ensuring the success of the product.

Our team, currently consisting of four members, is actively expanding, with ongoing recruitment for two additional team members.

Preferred experience

You’re a great match if:

  • Significant experience in Merchant Risk (7+ years) in Fintech, Payment Provider, Bank, consulting firm, or similar fast-paced environments.
  • Experience in building or scaling a similar product in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with multiple payment methods (card, direct debit, APM).
  • Understanding of the challenges of a Payfac model.
  • Possess a "problem solver" mindset, demonstrating creativity and resourcefulness with a positive and can-do attitude.
  • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail.
  • Fluency in English.
