Founded in 2020 by Benjamin Saada, we are a French deeptech company, definitely High Tech & High CSR, committed to a more sustainable future.

About the Job

Fairmat’s Software Engineers develop the technologies that will change how our internal teams deliver their work.  

As a Software Engineer at Fairmat you’ll be working on a variety of critical projects that will support our goal of zero carbon fiber buried.

Depending on your taste and experience you could be working on the systems that we use to remotely manage our factories, or on the application that is used by our Material R&D Engineers to manage their testing data. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on problems across the full-stack. 

The team

You will be joining the Command & Control team at a time when you will have an impact. This team is compose by 4 experienced people, 1 Tech Lead, 2 Softwares Engineer and 1 Devops.

Responsibilities

  • Design, Develop and Ship solutions that solve business problems
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders and bring solutions that meet our requirements
  • Work in a team with diverse culture and backgrounds
  • Projects you could contribute to

  • Design and development of an edge-computing telemetry aggregation system and its backend counterpart.
  • Design and development of a  “robot agent” that is responsible for communicating orders between backend and robots
  • Improvement of our infrastructure & deployment practices  (cloud & IOT)
  • Creation of monitoring dashboards for our internal services as well as Factory dashboards, in collaboration with domain specialists
  • Development of our internal application that we use to manage our factories
  • Creation of a front-end application that will help our R&D engineers to perform mechanical testing of our materials
  • What you will accomplish

    After a month you will have

    - followed a thorough onboarding process

    - met all of your teammates and stakeholders 

    - contributed with your first P.R merged to the mainline either by pairing with one of your teammates or by picking up tasks yourself

    After three months you will have 

    - defined a development plan with your manager

    - influenced the team’s quarterly objectives

    - owned and deliver a project

    After a year you will have

    - onboarded a new engineer in the team (perhaps several!) 

    - helped shape the team’s vision for the next year

    - met all your teammates during our traditional company-wide yearly meetup 

    Our Current Stack

    - Our backend services are 

    - Written in Go

    - Deployed to AWS EC2 instances using docker compose

    - Monitored with Grafana and Prometheus

    - We manage our infrastructure with Terraform

    - Our applications are built with VueJS

    - We host our codebase on Github, use Github actions for CI/CD

    - Our IOT applications are written in Go

    - running on Nvidia embedded computers or other smaller computers

    We don’t expect you to be an expert on all of these technologies, we need you to provide a fresh perspective on how we can build better solutions.

    Recruitment Process :

    - A first call to get to know each other: 30 minutes

    - An interview to deep dive into your technical skills: 45 min

    - Depending on your taste: A System Design interview (60 min) or a take home assignment (2 hours + 45 min Q&A) 

    - A cultural fit interview: 60 min

    - A meet with the team by visio or at the factory

    Depending on your availability, the whole interview process can take less than 2 weeks.
