We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Developer Experience Platform (DevEx) team within the Backend Platform organization. This team builds tools and systems that make it easier, faster, and more enjoyable for engineers to develop, test, and ship software. You will design and implement AI-powered workflows and automation that enhance productivity, code quality, and deployment velocity across the entire engineering organization.

Design, build, and maintain developer tools, automation, and infrastructure that improve the end-to-end engineering workflow.
Develop AI-powered solutions that assist engineers in writing, testing, and debugging code more efficiently (e.g., intelligent code review, test failure summarization, release automation).
Optimize CI/CD systems for performance, reliability, and speed; reduce build and test times.
Improve local and sandbox environments for faster developer onboarding and iteration.
Implement and analyze developer productivity metrics (e.g., DORA, SPACE) to drive measurable impact.
Collaborate with product, platform, and reliability engineering teams to identify friction points and ship scalable solutions.
Advocate for best practices in testing, observability, and deployment automation.
Contribute to the long-term DevEx strategy, particularly in areas where AI and automation can deliver transformative benefits.
3+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably with a focus on developer tools or platform engineering.
Strong programming experience in at least one backend language (e.g., Kotlin, Java, Go, or Python).
Hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and containerization (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
Solid understanding of software testing practices, observability tools, and system reliability concepts.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and deliver high-impact internal products.
Strong communication skills and a passion for improving developer productivity.
Good to Have Skills
Experience integrating or building AI-based developer tools (e.g., LLMs, code assistants, or natural-language automation).
Familiarity with developer productivity metrics (DORA, SPACE) and related analytics tooling.
Experience with internal developer portals such as Backstage.
Exposure to GitHub Apps, Actions, or workflow automation frameworks.
Understanding of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and service orchestration.
The SF base salary target range for this full-time position is $156,000-$195,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in San Francisco, CA. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
