About the mission we offer you:

As part of a power plant project in northern England, Technip Energies is participating in the design and construction of a CO2 capture and storage system.

This plant will supply up to 1.3 million homes and capture up to two million tons of CO2 per year. It will enable the large-scale deployment of renewable energies, particularly wind and solar, by producing flexible, distributable low-carbon electricity that secures a reliable supply to the grid by combining intermittent renewable energies. The project paves the way by supporting the UK government's commitment to fully decarbonize the electricity grid by 2035.

Within the Heat Exchange department of the Processes and Technologies division, this internship aims to optimize the design of a CO2 absorption column.

In particular, the following elements will be studied:

• Column insulation,
• Heat loss to the environment at the column and ancillary equipment,
• Selection of column materials,
• Characterization of exchange coefficients along the equipment,
• Sizing of the heat exchanger integrated into the column,
• Participation in the validation of the steam networks of the CO2 capture unit, as well as in the unit start-up procedures.

Your main tasks will be:

•  Studying and understanding the CO2 capture unit as a whole, and more specifically how the absorption column works.
• Learning how to use a CFD calculation tool (FloEFD) to assess heat loss.
• Performing numerical simulations of physical phenomena associated with heat transfer (thermal transfer, flow).
• Writing calculation notes and progress reports.

You will be part of teams of thermal engineers, process engineers, and structural engineers.

Starting Date: February - March 2026 

Duration : 6 months
