About This Role
This role reports to the PSM NAM Sales Director and is responsible for the development and governance of NAM’s electrical distributors to drive revenue growth, market share, and customer satisfaction. This role plays a critical part in executing the company’s PSM NAM channel strategy ensuring alignment between the company, its Sales Managers (RSM and ASM) and its Manufacturer Representatives (REPs), by fostering strong partnerships with electrical distributors. and ensuring alignment with corporate sales objectives. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of the electrical distribution landscape, strong commercial acumen, and experience in industrial, commercial and OEM-focused sales.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Develop and execute the channel strategy to grow sales through electrical distribution partners across targeted regions.
- Develop and maintain a NAM distributor map to ensure balanced coverage and regional depth.
- Define and monitor distributor tiering and certification (Silver / Gold / Platinum).
- Manage key distributor relationships, including national, regional, and independent electrical distributors, to drive alignment and growth.
- Identify and onboard new electrical distributors in underserved or strategic territories.
- Ensure line-card compatibility and manage channel conflict risk with OEM and private-label partnerships.
- Conduct regular business reviews with distributor partners to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and implement improvement plans.
- Identify and implement the necessary tools, processes, and programs that enable successful, scalable, and sustainable partnerships with electrical distributors.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, operations, and product management teams to support distributor needs and go-to-market execution.
- Drive engagement through training programs, promotional initiatives, product launches, and joint sales activities.
- Monitor distributor performance using KPIs (sales growth, stock levels, conversion rates, etc.) and ensure partners are meeting agreed-upon targets.
- Support inventory planning and stock management at distributor locations to align with market demand.
- Establish Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with each distributor.
- Stay informed on market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity within the electrical distribution channel.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, pricing policies, and market positioning across all channel partners.
Essential Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Electrical Engineering, Marketing, or a related field.
- Over 5 years of experience in sales, channel management, or business development within the electrical industry.
- Deep understanding of the electrical distribution ecosystem (e.g., relationships with local, regional and national distributors).
- Proven track record of building and growing distributor partnerships in an industrial, commercial and OEM-focused environment.
- Knowledge of AD and NAED membership ecosystem and relationships with major U.S. distributors (Graybar, Rexel, CED, WESCO, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical thinker with experience using data to guide decisions.
- Proficient in CRM tools (Salesforce) and Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% to meet with distributors and attend industry events.
- Familiarity with switchgear, power distribution, industrial controls or related product lines.
- Knowledge of pricing programs, incentive structures, and market development funds (MDF).
- Strong presentation skills and ability to influence across internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience implementing strategies and standards within the industrial electrical market.
- Demonstrate clear leadership strengths in decisions, communications, and actions with customers and internal teams
- Must be highly focused and can work under minimal supervision, yet communicate effectively regarding key performance indicators, goals, and results
- Strong interpersonal skills, and networking/collaboration abilities
- Must be able to manage many sales-related projects, tasks, and issues tactfully and collaboratively.
- Proven ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making
- Must be able to work from a home office
- Valid driver’s license including a good driving record; able to safely operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis
- Must maintain a valid passport for international travel for possible meetings and training abroad.
