Your role

At Side, growth means more users, more users means more data, more data means… We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our team and help us reshape the landscape of temporary work !

Eager to use your skills and knowledge? You can make use of Side’s stable and mature data environment to improve our data-driven culture. As part of the Product team, and in close partnership with the BI team, you will be the data provider for all of the business units at Side. As such, you will provide new sources of data, enrich them to gain insightful information, deliver value through our analytics tools and qualitative documentation to every consumer.

Relying on your experience and expertise, you will provide technical insight to raise the level of reliability and quality of the data provided, whilst keeping scalability in mind. We provide an environment where you can realise your potential through highly efficient, autonomous work !

Mission

Within one month - Onboarding

• You will learn about our products, our Product organisation and workflows within the team.

• You will understand the data team clients’ and their work, the people you’re going to help through your daily work.

• You will have a basic understanding of the company’s data infrastructure and systems.

• You will be able to develop a plan to improve the data quality and performance of the BI team’s systems.

Within 3 months - Contribute to scaling Side’s Data infrastructure

• You will automate one new external integration with our Data Warehouse or upgrade an existing one.

• You will design and implement performant Python and SQL code to create or improve data flows or reduce bottlenecks.

• You will implement the plan to improve the data quality and performance of the BI team’s systems.

• You will scale the analytics tool and datasets to meet the needs of the BI team.

Within 6 months - Improve our data-driven culture

• You will deliver an impactful feature from discovery to release. It’s more than just tech.

• You will have full ownership of the BI team’s data infrastructure and systems.

• You will work on scaling the analytics tool to meet the needs of the entire company.

• Contribute to the BI team’s success by providing clear data documentation and overall technical support by answering questions, troubleshooting problems, and developing new solutions to improve their productivity.

Throughout your experience at Side

• Think about scalability on volume and velocity when building.

• Data team consumers should be autonomous and leverage our work without being blocked.

• Feel free to experiment on business analysis, product analysis and other helpful initiatives that can help the company get more visibility and be more data-driven. Always R&D.

Your skillset

Our team being mostly remote with non-french members, being at ease with english as well as working in a remote environment is required.

• You have at least a year of proven experience programming in Python with production-ready code.

• You have working experience with different kinds of databases, especially SQL based ones.

• Development tasks in containerised environments are common for you.

• You are familiar with using a VCS (we use git, but don’t let that stop you)

What makes you stand out

• Having prior experience with ETL frameworks (Apache Airflow, Spotify Luigi).

• Previous experience with stream processing frameworks (like Kafka or Spark).

• Previous experience with Big Data frameworks and/or OLAP databases.

• Knowledge on basic descriptive statistics.
