We are looking for a Senior People Business Partner (HRBP) to join our People Operations team and help create an amazing experience for our employees, whom we affectionately call Turists. Reporting to the Senior Manager, People Partners & Operations, who is based in Phoenix, Arizona, this role will align and support our growing international teams in EMEA as well as localize people programs. As the Senior People Business Partner, EMEA you will join the global People Operations team, responsible for supporting Turo’s locations in France, Spain, and the UK. You will provide consultative, advisory services to leaders in EMEA and their respective teams. You will be aligned with the EU & UK orgs and provide daily HR business partner support to leaders and employees including compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, talent planning, succession planning and leadership development. You will partner with the People Ops leadership team to develop and execute high-impact talent and organization interventions that support the business. In addition, you will ensure compliance with local laws and regulations and ensure all local HR administrative activities are executed flawlessly.
 

What you will do

People Business Partner

  • Ensure that the organization has the right talent in place to achieve its goals

  • Create an amazing employee experience at work that plays a major role in employee engagement, retention, and productivity

  • Act as an employee champion and change agent as we grow our workforce and expand globally

  • Lead efforts to create a supportive culture through employee engagement, diversity and inclusion initiatives, rewards and recognition execution, and community involvement

  • Build relationships with your respective business leaders and attend their team meetings

  • Guide leaders, in partnership with our subject matter experts, through all people matters and programs, including compensation, talent development, performance, etc. 

  • Partner with and advise leaders on people-related strategy and decisions, including organizational design, planning, policy, and compensation 

  • Manage day-to-day employee relations issues

  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations

  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line managers (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions

  • Develop people oriented programs to positively impact the employee experience 

  • Own the annual performance management process

  • Partner with leaders to monitor the workforce plan throughout the year and collaborate with the talent acquisition team on recruiting activities

  • Analyze metrics, people reports and datasets to identify trends and develop integrated solutions, programs and policies.

  • Deliver appropriate coaching and development feedback to managers and employees 

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention

  • Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs

  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs and follow-up to ensure training objectives are met

  • Ensure activities are in compliance with all state and federal employment laws and regulations

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
     

People Operations (HR)

  • Oversee personnel administration and conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.

  • Collaborate constructively with the French CSE (Comité Social et Économique) and any other works councils as Turo expands its European footprint.

  • Address international HR matters and navigate a multicultural work environment

  • Liaise with the local labour and social security authorities to assure the necessary local compliance and resolve labour related issues

  • Plan, organise, coordinate, and document the local periodic meetings with works councils, as well as follow up on agreed actions

  • Advise on local legislation on labour issues and act as the main point of contact for external labour legal advisors

  • Manage disciplinary actions

  • Manage individual and/ or collective employment conflicts and internal corporate People Operations functions

  • Support talent acquisition/recruitment processes when needed

  • Facilitate the accurate execution of all local HR processes: transactions and changes, promotions, disciplinary actions, performance management, training and development, compensation, and benefits, etc.

  • Act as a local subject matter expert for the Workday HCM platform, ensuring smooth operational execution for all HR processes in France.

  • Partner with the central HRIS team on system enhancements, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Leverage Workday's reporting and analytics capabilities to provide HR data and insights to support evidence-based business decisions.
     

Your profile

  • Fluent in English and French. Conversational Spanish is a plus.

  • Strong background and expertise in French, Spanish, and UK labor law and personnel administration.

  • Strong desire to help others and intellectual curiosity about people and organizational issues

  • Effective interpersonal skills and a great listener

  • Ability to influence managers/leaders with data-driven recommendations to improve performance, retention, and the employee experience

  • Must be a confident communicator (including both written and verbal) and the ability to explain complex and/or confidential information as well as effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, including the senior leadership team

  • Excellent problem-solving ability and judgment; ability to make sound decisions independently

  • Exceptional consulting, coaching, and facilitation skills

  • Strong conflict resolution/mediation skills

  • Experience with benefits, compensation, career paths, & job leveling

  • Demonstrated project & program management/change management skills

  • Comfortable operating in a constantly changing, matrixed environment

  • Working knowledge of France, Spain, and UK employment laws

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using Workday HCM. Experience should include core HCM functionality, reporting, and supporting other HR processes within the system

  • Demonstrates Turo’s values through work product and within day-to-day team interactions
     

Education and Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferably as an HR Business Partner at a rapidly growing, multi-national technology organization with headquarters in the US. Start-up experience preferred

  • Proven experience in a hands-on HR role, managing labor topics and work councils

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
