We are a vertically integrated manufacturer and our products are made at facilities located in Quebec, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.
As a Senior Accountant, you will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager of the BU North America and you will have a key role in the overall financial reporting functions for Nexans Canada, including the financial analysis, reconciliations and accounting.
GETTING TO KNOW THE POSITION
This role supports the Senior Accounting Manager with month-end close and financial reporting and plays a key part in delivering accurate and timely results for Nexans Canada and the Group. You will independently handle journal entries, balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, collaborate with other Nexans entities, and support tax and audit processes by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
- Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Review assigned account reconciliations and prepare monthly reconciliation listings
- Review invoices as part of payment proposal processes
- Perform weekly and monthly freight GL coding (FSL)
- Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant accounting documentation
Financial Reporting & Consolidation
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly HFM reporting packages for Corporate France
- Coordinate and validate financial and non-financial data used in the consolidation process
- Prepare HFM statistical reporting
- Assist in the preparation of legal entity financial statements for external reporting
- Complete Statistics Canada reporting
Intercompany, Audit & Compliance
- Perform quarterly intercompany reconciliations in HFM and manage intercompany recharge invoices
- Support external auditors by providing work papers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Assist with tax-related requests
- Review local vendor master data changes
Cost, Payroll & Business Support
- Manage monthly fixed-cost reporting for department managers
- Prepare weekly and bi-weekly payroll journal entries for our two plants ( ON and SK)
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual union remittances for our SK plant
- Prepare, research, and analyze financial information to support management initiatives
- Contribute to ad hoc projects as required
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE ?
- University degree in Business or Accounting;
- Minimum 3-5 years of accounting and financial analysis experience, preferably in a manufacturing costing environment
- Recognized accounting designation is highly recommended
- Excellent knowledge of International (IFRS/IAS) is an asset
- Familiarity with SAP and Hyperion Financial Management is highly recommended
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, proficient in Word and Powerpoint
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and general business understanding
- Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills required
