Descriptif du poste

Context and Objectives

Look Up has been selected as Space Safety service provider for the IONSat mission, a cubesat mission owned by CSEP (Centre Spatial de l’Ecole Polytechnique) to launch by mid of 2027. Look Up will be in charge to monitor the collision risks faced by the cubesat during its mission on a very low Earth Orbit (VLEO), propose relevant avoidance manoeuvres if needed and execute them directly using the CSEP proprietary ground stations, if decided by the IONSAT project Team.

In this context, the full operational concepts must be defined, and the interfaces with the nominal control centre must be agreed, developed, and validated. This will be based on the existing developments performed in the ATLAS² project, including the capacity of Synapse to ingest the operational flows (TeleMetry, TeleCommand…).

Internship Responsibilities

In this context, the intern will work in the Space Systems Operations Team, under the supervision of the Space Systems Operations team lead and will contribute to the following activities:

• Analysis of the operational needs for IONSAT Collisions Risks monitoring, based on technical studies to be performed of the type and frequency of risks that could be encountered

• Detailed definition of the operational workflow architecture of the SSA monitoring, including interfaces with the IONSAT

• Contribution to the implementation of the interfaces and required tools:

o Identification of operational constraints to be considered for manoeuvre commanding

o Missionisation of command & control software to IONSAT specificities

• Writing of the associated operational procedures

• Writing of the operational qualification plan

• Participation to the operational qualification campaign and lessons learned synthesis.

Note that depending on the actual progress of the IONSat project, the content of the internship may be adapted, providing more focus on specific activities and/or participating to complementary studies.

Required Skills and Profile

• Desired education level and field of study : engineer school (or equivalent), preferably end-of-course internship.

• Required technical knowledge :

o Good knowledge of space domain techniques and technologies

o Orbital Mechanics / Flight Dynamics

o Knowledge of Space Safety challenges and concepts

o A first experience in the field of space operations would be very appreciated

Practical Information

• Internship Duration : 6 months

• Preferred Period : May 2026 – November 2026 (flexibility over the 2026 year)

• Main internship location : Toulouse

• Remote work considered (yes/no, under what conditions) : occasionnally possible, but not during operational qualification period.

• Business travel required (Yes/No) : yes
